and the port staff evaluate the cost and condition of the port facilities up and down the water front. and on this annual basis and bring revised capitol plan to the city's capitol planning committee and the board of supervisors every two years this is intended to address the same value and really divvy up the financial resources that address the need that we see along the water front. and the last update of the plan, and this past year, showed about is.6 billion dollars no over all need and this includes a back long. and a one time improvement that are driven by the code requirements and the renewal obligations that we will see occur over the next ten years. and seismic costs for for all of the port facilities up for the seismic standards. and but, the capitol plan, includes a plan of finance as well, to address both the backlog of needs, and enhancements like the new parks on the water front, and we have got it and developed a variety of funding sources, some of them quite new since the adoption of the water front plan. and you will see that, the type of small on this slide, and as

and we have only just released to the port, it became live yesterday, late last night on the port's website and so we appreciate that, there is a lot of information that we will try and summarize for you today. this is a draft report, and so we recognize the need for people to be able to review and absorb, and we will be looking forward to taking comments through september, and then be able to take stock of the comments and feedbacks if we get back to before we finalize the report. thank you for your patience to everyone actually for the website, access. >> so hopefully, if you have any problems, let us know, it should be available. the project that we have tried to undertake is looking at the full 17 years of the water front plan has been in place and we were required to look at a 5-year time window but we extended it to look at the full array of things that have happened on the water front to pride, education for the public, and there are 123 different projects that have been profiled in the report, and while that is a lot, that is not every project, that has happened, but we think that i

and renee worked for the port, she graduated from balboa high school and came over to work at the port and she began in october *f 1973 as a temporary clerk and typist and 32 years later she retired from the real estate division as the collection's supervisor and she was a wonderful aunt and god mother and had numerous nieces and nephews and leaves behind her father, her brother and sister and her good friend, patricia jackson and left a great legacy with all of us and she will be greatly missed and so i wanted to take a moment to recognize that she has departed us. so thank you for that. >> and that concludes my report. >> any public comment on the executive's director's report? >> seeing none, commissioners reports? >> commissioner? anything to report on? >> and just that the two very brief things. one is that i just want to reiterate the public celebration in honor of dr. mimi, and i hope that you will all be able to join us and attend on september 8th, as the executive director mentioned it is free, and i think that many of you are well aware of how visionary dr. solber g and the s

and so that we are getting the word out, about the port's projects. so, with that, i will just close and say, that there is a lot that is still happening. we have projects under way, and virtually in every segment of the water front and we have talked about 337, and the pier 70 where we are the new neighborhoods under way and pier 80 and 96. and port staff just, and commission just launched a project to look at the pier 29 bulkhead building and these are all great projects that should continue and with that i will hand it back to dana, okay? >> i am wrapping up. fortunately, for everyone, again, this is a draft report, and we have tried to do our best, to distill a lot of information in to *un its that the people could review and understand in pieces and give us feedback on that. we would recognize that maybe we have missed things, or we have mischaracterized them so that it is important to be able to start up the discussions with the community, via this report and the public comments will be taking them through september and hopefully, we will be able

front plan has provided access to the capitol that the port would not have had. and also, a great deal of creativity from the private sector that comes through the public, private partnership, at the staff level we have worked to add public financing to the equation, to help to address some of these high costs. it did not address, the unique opportunities, the 34th america's cup and the exploretorium and these are the kinds of projects that present themselves that really the cities pursue, if they have become available and, so you can't hold the same kind of predevelopment planning process, and competitive bidding process for the opportunities, like this. and so, the water front plan does not articulate it, and a process. and in each case, when these projects have presented themselves, the port staff and the city staff have worked to develop a public process, like that, articulated in the water front land use plan. and sometimes, it has been wildly successful. and such as at&t ballpark that draws 4 million visitors a year and the explore torium is already drawing

the port's capitol plan. we have also seen our tenants, making major investments in the water front that were maybe not envisioned at the time of the water front land use plan, they build over 20 million dollar facility on the fiber man's wharf and we have seen two tenants the polara foundation, and the pier, 24 and annex, and where, the tenants have undertaken the big substructure repairs to the facilities on the 10-year leases. in the port's southern water front, we have seen the major investment as well and we have seen the two concrete facilities built in the pier, 92, 94 area, that are really the heart of an eco industrial park, that is co-locating tenants that provide the materials to one another. and in a way that he minimizes the truck trips in the area. and then, norical invested about 30 million dollars, in pier 96 to create the recycle central. and so, we have seen over 300 million dollars invested just through the real estate projects alone. >> there is an increasing focus on sustainability and env

much in the way that we are seeing with the bcdc port working group. given our recommendation that we do the subarea planning and the discreet areas of the water front, rather than the whole water front as was the case with the adoption of the water front land use, and there is a lot of efforts in the projects that are under way and those projects need to continue while the planning discussions occur and looking at the discreet water front subareas, we have planning under way in both the fixer man's wharf area and with the planning area focusing on the public loan improvements. and south beach and then in the north east water front, look to be the areas where there has been some recent controversy, and there would be a benefit in some subarea of planning in those areas. and we are eager to hear, the feedback from the residents in those areas, to see if there is a shared interest in that. and with the pier 70 and the sea wall lot, 337 there is a need for the voter approval for those projects can go forward to address the height. in the southern water fro

wall 337, and i know that she does not have a full time job, because she is so busy working for the port and all of our efforts and, i just feel so much pride in the legacy that has been developed over the last 20 years, to make the water front what it is today. and i think that we have done an amazing job of community out reach. of meeting with anyone who has, or who wants to understand anything about what is going on with the water front. and so i do believe that the boaters have made a statement and i do believe that maybe, there are some things that we could do differently, and i just don't want to take away from the amazing work that this team has done and created along the water front, thank you. >> commissioner woo ho? >> i am going to take a different tact, and i certainly don't take away and i think that it is an amazing work that we have done so far and it is great to understand, what we have accomplished and what brad and diane have done a great job, and we are trying to look forward and have the speakers address what we want to accomplish, and first of all i have learned on t

actually for a year have included a report on sea level rise in every project that comes before the port and the staff admits the analysis of the sea level on all of that and i think that our next steps are taking a look at both how we get the people involved to share the information and that is something that we with the port staff will be working be on figuring out how to enhance the involvement and just in conclusion, diane if you could talk about the next steps and how we work on that and you again, just maybe reiterate how the people can way in and submit the comments and also, i think that i speak for my colleagues, all of you if you have thoughts, questions, or concerns, come to us as well. we are very open. and we would love to hear from you and it is how we learn. i know that our staff is incredibly receptive and so i will reach out to them and also please don't hesitate to come to speak to all of us and share both your criticism but also your kutos and i think that it is important to hear and i said what has worked well because so much has. and again, just point out that this i

and then, on the north, going again, beyond the port jurisdiction, serving something perhaps something in the yacht club, serving the club, and so that is really, that shows you there, sort of the kind of the fully, built out at least potentially built out water taxi network in san francisco. and obviously not shown here are the landings that the tide line marine uses in the east bay. this is really just san francisco. so just to wrap up, you know, the port staff is committed to working with the partners and working with the current operators and helping them grow and fostering the growth of the water taxi as a viable transit mode and yeah in terms of next steps, we would like to take this discussion to our various community groups all of them, you know, would have an interest, and i think that get that feedback and we would like to i believe that both of the operators have this today and i hope that they are and they want to speak in public xhebt and we would like to invite them if it is already with the commission to formally address the commission at an upcoming meeting and you know

and the port maritime division issued in our cue, in 2012, and through that process, ultimately, two companies were selected and awarded the licenses and again, the names of those two the first one is marine tide line marine group. and another picture of one of their vessels that they have two and one can accommodate, six and another larger can accommodate up to 39 and they provide an on call, on demand service and so similar to an auto taxi or a limo service, or uber and they, primarily operate out of pier 1, and one and a half. and they go to the north bay, and east bay, primarily. and their fares are based on time and distance. >> the other group and the other company is called san francisco water taxi and another picture of one of their vessels that they have, they have one vessel now and it can carry up to 18 passenger and they have a couple more that are going to be added to their fleet and also 18 passenger vessels and they offer, a different type of service, theres hop on and hop off, and so similar to a bus. for example. and they land at a number of different water front attr
