i had the opportunity to talk and it focuses on the public health threat of the day that the public is worried about now but i do think it is important to remember 100 years ago these diseases which were common with hundred years ago but are not now. that is because of immunization really a public health accessory of our century but the morbidity and mortality even those that we have less than perfect control like pertussis moms and measles we are still preventing more cases than one century ago which is an incredible achievement. another way to look at it, 1964 able to vaccinate against reasons now for 16 also it is a perfect illustration of ingenuity so on the bench top of the scientific laboratory and then when they go into the arms but this is another way to look at it and it is important we understand there is the opposite with the use of more vaccines that has gone down substantially but i hope we agree it is a worthwhile investment. but it is not enough just to have those vaccines sitting there but it is getting them into those that need it where they can prevent diseases so the

i'm representing the department of public health. i'm a senior inspector with the environmental health branch, and i oversee the day-to-day operations of the mobile food facility program. we did provide -- i don't know if it's on the overhead, but i'm just placing one of the sides of the brochures that we give out to public kind of describing the mobile food facility classifications just to draw attention as our permitting process to the plan review of the designated carts or trucks or trailers, the minimum requirement of the construction to relate to those classifications. but when an applicant comes in for a permit, i start off the conversation with two primary questions. one being where do they want to vend? sometimes they don't have an idea yet, so we discuss dpw or planning requirements based on where they want to start operating. and a lot of times, they refer them to go to department of public works to initiate the discussion before pursuing a permit with us just to make sure they can lock in the locations that they are hoping

this is a copy of the city of tyler, texas' budget summary for the ella reid public library. it shows salaries, supplies, maintenance, and just looking at the amounts let's you know the time frame of -- that we were in. this is actual board minutes from the 1940's from the negro public library board, march 26th 1947 library board meeting and i thought this was an interesting bookmark where it shows how much books cost and magazines cost the library, books, magazines totaled $33 and right here we have the word paper and that says 32.50 and then we have quite a lot of shakespeare. we have king leer and fellow and the books are just precious, the tutor, if you open it up you see the red stamp. these are called pocketbooks, very common at the time and there are several that we have. this lovely little pocketbooks that were lended out in the library and it's wonderful that the library had these. this book that we have right here is titled camille, this is a lovely book from the library and it has some interesting library stamp, but upside side it's property of smith county rural li

this allows members of the public to check out mifi devices. this enhancement of around $91,000 would allow us to grow that program by 170 devices. that would bring the total devices available to the public to 300. this would allow the patrons to check them out much like our physical materials and take them up for up to a three week period and provide connect activity and access to those in need. another key investment in digital strategies is for the modernization of our collections management system, where we would transition to the industry standard of radio frequency identification systems. the goal of this is about improving patron services, so it's allowing them to check out the materials faster but also to help our staff process the materials more quickly, get them back out on the shelves, be responsive to hold requests from our patrons. this was approved by coit in -- earlier this month, and just as a point of clarification or information, about 75% of the bay area libraries already use this technology. our other investments are growing
