the bulk of the rain is east of the d.c. ro area, d.c., annapolis, waldorf, still some moderate rain down here. these areas did not see the rain earlier. i'm not too worried about flooding to this area. something i'm watching, the main line, way to the south and east. back here is the area of low pressure that still has the spin through our region. we're not going to see a lot from it but som that's why the flash flood watch is continuing through 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. not going to take a lot of rain. some locations picked up two to three inches. dulles airport picked up close to two inches in 20 minutes. that's how hard the rain was coming down. so fast. it will not take a lot to get to the flash flooding. never drive through flooded roadways. i like to show you the satellite and radar together. you can see the spin in the atmosphere. that's going to come through overnight. 11:00, most of the rain across southern maryland. by 2:00 in the morning most of it is out of here. some shower activity but it will come back at 7 a.m. but

cool by the rain and by the clouds that will linger even when the rain tapers off. here's the radar, showing the steady showers across parts of chester county and into montgomery and bucks counties. starting to thin out in south philadelphia. you can see light rain showers moving through gloucester, camden and into burlington county. it will be on and off during the day today. there's a possibility we'll see some of these. if you look closely, you can see quite a bit of lightning now in western pennsylvania. these are on the move and could be here later this morning and into this afternoon. but it's not going to be an all-day rainfall. scattered showers this morning. they should be tapering off a little bit in the noontime hour. at 10:30, light rain for our area at that hour. by 12:30, we'll see breaks in the clouds and during the afternoon, we could have an extend period with no rain. but here comes another round of wet weather. that's during the early afternoon, arriving for the evening commute. this is when we could see thunderstorm activity in the area today. if

the rain will be advance more than what the model is showing. be driving through rain 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. some of the cells developing to the south. we advance this to 10:00 a.m., or so, you can see showers in the city and some of the stronger storms really starting to hit our southern region. and then we look at 11:00 a.m., this model shows it pushing off the coast. beyond that 2:00 p.m. there's a shower popping up. we'll watch that. the afternoon and evening is mostly dry. it's the first half of the day up until lunch time that we're dealing with that. let's run it down hour by hour, high of 81. humid and thunderstorms. 8:00 a.m., 72 and raining. 10:00 a.m., strong storms to the south. most areas drying out by lunchtime, 73 and sticky. maybe a shower in the afternoon. but you're predominantly dry in the afternoon. northwest suburbs not getting much. a brief period of rain or showers, i-95 heavy rain or thunderstorm. it's central delaware and southern new jersey where the strong storms will hit. today it's humid, 81 for the high, strong storms

just south of harrisburg the rain is coming into the area. it's got time be ever it mofore into the delaware valley. delaware and south jersey will see thunderstorm activity. the heaviest part of that weather is moving through west virginia. that's the area of greatest risk of severe weather of these passing storms. there is a possibility that southern delaware and into south jersey could see some of the stronger storms during the day today. getting some sunshine in the lehigh valley. the clouds are on the increase there. showers and a chance of some thunderstorms this morning and into the afternoon hours in eastern pennsylvania. the greater threat is farther to the south. for delaware, clouds are already there. temperatures holding with showers and thunderstorms and the potential for heavy downpours. lightning will be visible at times in philadelphia. the chance of some storms comes into play later in the morning for philadelphia, 73 degrees. the farther north you go, the better chance you'll see some of those breaks of sunshine. all of this

wilmington, just about into the heaviest rain. s this goes to the southeast, it's going to get to reedy point and odessa. middletown is 67 degrees. you can see more showers down by the delaware beaches. only 65 degrees at dewey beach right now. but that rain is going to be moving out, as we head through the afternoon. at least the steadier and heavier stuff. we'll have a few renegade showers around perhaps, but look what happens this evening. we have cloudy skies, but we don't have much in the way of rain. there's going to be a lot of stuff down by baltimore, washington, but here we are, friday, and that drier air starting to come down from the north. and so by friday morning, we've got sunshine in northern parts of the area. clouds to the south. and eventually, the southern areas clear out as well. so as we go through tomorrow, the farther north you are, the earlier the clearing is going to take place. and therefore, the warmer weather. reading up to 82 degrees tomorrow. easton, 81. keep that in mind when i show you some of the ot

the radar. we still have some pretty heavy rain right around the philadelphia area. this extends up through parts of burlington gloucester camden counties. this is pretty heavy rain over the major interstates. even through parts of delaware county. and it does extend down into newcastle county. you see the yellows, oranges and reds here right around middletown up to wilmington. that shows us the heavier rain. it's all going to continue moving into parts of new jersey. i think we're going to see it for a little while longer. here's your morning forecast.

amelia is tracking the rain to let us know who is going to be impacted by this. >> wendy, tracking theeaviest rain right now actually back in the nh all of this activity generally moving toward the south. as we look to the weekend, pretty quiet tomorrow, but there is a potential for strong to severe thunderstorms on sunday. more on that coming up, but here's what's happening right now. notice some heavy rain south of fredericksbu fredericksburg. here is that heavy rain in fairfax. here's what we can expect this evening. showers right now in the district. heavy rain moving out of fairfax, out of reston, out of bethesda. this continues to move toward the south over the next couple of hours. once this line is out of here, we're going to be mainly dry from here on out. that lone shower in the panhandle in west virginia remains a lone and isolated shower. you can see only some scattered activity up in pennsylvania, parts of western maryland and west virginia.
