look at the rain coming down in the suburbs of philadelphia, into new jersey, steady rain in burlington, glouster and camden county. you can see thunderstorm activity in eastern maryland. along the maryland shore. the showers we saw yesterday spread inland quickly to the other. this morning, the heaviest rains are really not budging. they're in southern delaware right now. and that very heavy rainfall has been coming down at a rate of close to 3 inches an hour. some areas have already picks up 4, 5, 6 inches of rain. that's why a flood warning in effect for that area. the threat of more showers during the morning will be with us. but we will see some break information the rain, especially during the morning commute for southern and central delaware and into south jersey. but the steady rain will stilling falling just across the delaware into new jersey to philadelphia, northern delaware, look at the suburbs of the lehigh valley. got steady rain in the allentown area. that's 7:30 this morning. that keeps pushing to the north. the pocono mountains will see that steady rainfall at 10:30. a

most of the rain is out ahead it was. so we are already beginning to feel the impacts of hermine and once the center of circulation arrives here on the coast, it won't be long until the rain is circulation. here is 11:00 a.m. rain in the triangle area and southward and it continues to stretch northward as we get up through the day t will be very heavy overnight tonight potentially causing some flooding and by 7:00 a.m., we start to see some rain pulling away. still a chance of some scattered showers during the afternoon on saturday. we won't have the heavy rain that we'll see this afternoon and overnight tonight. we do have a severe storm risk. it is elevated right along coast an marginal r area. there is a tornado watch in effect just west of wilmington up until 4:00. that does not affect our viewing area. our big impact will be the rain with 2 to 7 un. s. we do have flash flood watches that will be going into effect between now and lunchtime. we have watched this storm weaken a little bit as it has come onshore. winds at

the rain has been moving over the same area. embedded thunder and language as well. you could hear a rumble or see lightning this morning. lighter rains around portsmouth, getting back into heavier rain around manchester. you can see a couple of lightning strikes, one closer to this whole area of rain is moving toward the north and east. we've got the heavy rain right now around new hampshire where we have that lightning strike. it is likely going to stay north and west of you in the nashua area. this has been where the rain has been coming down close to 2 inches per hour. it could lead to some of that power drainage flooding. all of this is lined up near a frontal boundary sitting off to the west. as this front shifts farther eastward today, we are going to see that axis of the rain get closer to the julia down here to the south. that is feeding some tropical moisture into this. certainly, you can feel it this morning. humidity reaching that oppressive level, especially near and south of boston with dew point temperatures up around 70 degrees. so stepping out this mo

some of the heavier rain. now, just two tornado warnings this evening down east and that is about it. let's get closer look at what is going on across the area. rain coming through the county moderate rainfall that has subsided in the way of light. we will go to the south and east. moderate rain north and east. the roads are wet and everything is soaked. then, heading farther to the south and to the east you see the rainbands all of the oranges and the reds indicate heavy rainfall. if you look closely you can tell the center of circulation is right about here making its way in had is the latest on the -- this is the latest on the storm. at 50, we expect this to be the case throughout the night. here is the top winds 50 at 2:00 a.m. north of the whilmington area. now, once it it is over the water it will likely reintensify and then the steering gets weak next week some models suggest it could get close to the midatlantic states before it swings out to the sea. that is something we will watch. 3.39. more to come

the north. and it's still raining in sussex county. ocean view, millford getting it, they have had the heaviest rain. this is doppler estimated rainfall. and you see some of these bright colors down here, sussex county, we're talking about eight inches of rain since this started. mills borrow, close to 8. millford, 4 1/2, dover 3 1/2. but lesser amounts the farther northeast you go, 1.3 in wilmington and less than a half-inch in the philadelphia area. but of course we're not done. the other problem, the persistent east wind causing moderate coastal flooding. we have moderate coastal flooding expected at high tide this evening. look at these temperatures, 553 and rain. 43 miles an hour in dover, 32 in coachville, 31 miles an hour in wildwood. here is the rain as we go through the evening, wave after wave of it. at least we don't see it as heavy later tonight and tomorrow as what we're seeing this evening. but there we are friday night, and into saturday morning, we have got showers scattered all over the place. and so we're not getting m

so the yellow showing you the more moderate rain and that's going to continue traveling through the lehigh value. northern delaware, scattered lighter rain, but it's a little bit more september in parts of newcastle county, precip rates here have been close to about a half an inch and hour with some of the heavier rain we have seen in that area so. that's what we're watching over the next couple of hours, to potentially move in. this is where you see the heaviest of the rainfall. some of this could be dropping at about two inches an hour. the good news is that it's moving fairly quickly. so you see that precip rate a little over one and three-quarter inches an hour. so we will continue watching that that's all the rain to our south and west, but in the meantime, we have the rain moving through. chester county, burks county, all of delaware, this is going to run through friday, so we do expect heavy rain in the forecast, we have the potential for some flash flooding but it really depends on where you live. we'll take a close look at the timing with glenn huschwartz. >> by 5:00, you can see
