[♪] >> when my mother decided to buy that house, nobody knew where it was. it seems so far away. for a long time, we were the only chinese family there but we started to see the areas of growth to serve a larger chinese population. the stress was storage of the birthplace of that. my father would have to go to chinatown for dim sum and i remember one day he came home and said, there is one here now. it just started to grow very organically. it is the same thing with the russian population, which is another very large ethnic group in the richmond district. as russia started to move in, we saw more russian stores. so parts of the richmond is very concentrated with the russian community and immigrant russian community, and also a chinese immigrant community. this is the richmond side of the richmond to san rafael bridge.s morning, all of these lanes off to the left are closed up. now, they may open some of them before 6:00 but the entire project scheduled to clear at 6:00. however, yesterday was the same schedule and they didn't clear until about 6:30 so plan on possible delays headed toward the richmond-san rafael bridge if you travel between 5:30 and 6:30 in the morning. we'll continue to follow that closely. contra costa county an easy drive across the carquinez bridge and benicia bridges, no problem, and really the issue are the orange blobs there through the tri-valley, livermore, 580, fog there, low clouds at the very least, and here also through south county, highway 17 may be an issue, darker roadways and low visibility as fog and low clouds drift through the area. 101 is clear about a half hour, san martin was showing fog, you know about that, keep that in mind. 101 just north of 680/280 interchange clear view, clear drive no problem and a nice ride as well on your early commute here, capital

i live in the richmond district. i thank dana for her effort to update the audio monitoring, but at this point, it has been woefully insufficient. many reports have been given of people being bothered by noise. the old standard of several hundred feet have been thrown out the door, and outside lands can make their noise any way they want with no requirements preventing them. there should be standards, and they should be electronically monitored professionally. at present, outside lands has no prohibition or quantitative standards whatever. this is not acceptable in any city in the country, yet san francisco is allowing this. all they have to do, outside lands can listen and say we accept or we don't accept. this is not a professional approach. i recommend that quantitative standards be reinstituted like we had before, and that they be reasonably followed. they should hire an outside auditory source for safety. the people who are there very close to the speakers will have their hearing damaged. there are 90 to 110 dba

it is raining now at the richmond bridge. you have seen the cells move through. i can show you on the picture of the traffic approaching the bridge where -- and you can see if you have time to look up at your screen, look at the rain coming down. you can see it illuminated by the headlights there. it's coming down hard and the traffic is slowing down as it should driving over to marin county. got a message from my buddy who says his power has been out for a long time since last night in san anselmo. that means some of the traffic lights are not going to be working in parts of marin county where the power is out. this is a look at 80 westbound driving out to the macarthur maze. this morning in san francisco northbound 101 slow and go from just near the 280 interchange. 280 is also slow out of daly city. 680 is slow. the south bay commute is moderate. there's northbound 280. because of the holiday weekend coming up for some, that if you're going to the snow, right now there are chain restrictions on 80 and 50. you can get the specifics on the caltrans website. >>>

said we have zero vacancies in the richmond. within two weeks, 159 vacancies were reported. there was an on-line reporting form. we gave that to d.b.i. d.b.i. went from having 40 properties on the list to over 200. i'm proud to say our neighborhood was instrumental in increasing that number, as well as the press and media around that. we then, based on that list of the number of vacant storefronts, our office sent a mail letter to every single one of those property owners, asking them to engage in our office because we really are trying to understand the problem. not surprisingly, the vast majority of those property owners didn't respond, but we did have some great conversations with some folks. some of those people were actually small businesses who are talking about -- so we got the small business owner, not the property owner who were talking about the property challenges that maybe they were having with their landlords or the challenges of trying to stay in their space. some of the folks were talking about kind of like permitting process, and so i think that gets to some
