you just broke down the latest power outages numbers. this is a neighborhood in rockville without power but it was restored last night. many people say they were becoming overly frustrated with pepco. thousands of people are still in the dark this morning who will be waking up across montgomery county. they have been waiting to see power trucks coming down the street, but they have not seen them yet and they're getting very frustrated. we spoke with several residents yesterday in rockville and they don't understand why they don't have power, especially because their power lines are an underground. >> we are in a pretty densely populated area. >> i thought it would be back on earlier. now it's really hot. >> pepco says the reason some of those residents have not had power restored even though their power lines are underground is because there are still transformer issues they are trying to work out. once again, they hope to have the majority of their customers in montgomery county with power back by the end of the weekend. jummy olabanji reporting from rockville. >> i'm sur

folks in myers furniture will be figuring out the damage done by a fire that broke out on the store on rockville pike. fire crews had to shut down the whole road for a little while starting at around 6:00 this evening. they safely evacuated everybody inside. the flames were on the second floor and on the roof. one firefighter suffered some serious injuries connected to heat exhaustion. no word yet on the cause of the fire. >>> the montgomery county government says it sent more than $10 million dealing with last month's show. that straight line wind storm that knocked out power to so many of us. now it plans to ask the federal government to cover some of those costs. for example, police officers logged more than 2100 hours of ot. the fire and rescue service responded 2,000 times during one, 48-hour period. and the department had 80,000 yards of debris. that would fill up lots of dumpsters you see at construction sites. >>> i hope you enjoyed today, because things are going to get hotter and stickier tomorrow. are we talking a heat alert? >> we are. temperatures are going to feel pretty hot, but w

live with >> we drove around virginia, the district, maryland. we are here in rockville and branches and trees are still -- all over the place. this is a fairly major cut through, a sign of what might be awaiting you tomorrow on your commute if you have to drive. this is near montgomery county -- montgomery college. this is all over the place in this neighborhood. i want you to notice something. the lights are on at montgomery college. look in the distance. do you see those two headlights in the distance? beyond it, nothing but darkness. this neighborhood has been power ever since friday night. of thousands of customers are still in that same situation. i am told that tomorrow's commute is going to be a rough one. what could be awaiting you. in some cases, these are major blocked by trees. there were still trying to get of new hampshire avenue in the district. they're also having trouble on massachusetts in the district. same situation, where you have that circumstance for a tree is blocking the way. if you can avoid driving tomorrow, it is recommended. metro is the best
