one of the great things about this particular job that i have had is the ability to go anywhere in san francisco. treasure island, s.f.o., the city, every day is different and every day you do what you want to do. that's part of the freedom of this job. one of the things that i'm concerned about the most is the pre-prop k medallion holders that have been doing this job or the asset or the ability to make money off their medallion, they don't have another source at this point. many are older and disabled and couldn't work a job if they wanted to or nor should they have to. (please stand by) -- there was no business out there for me. i couldn't pay my mortgage payment. they were about to take over the house. so i was -- i was so sick of it. i had been getting lots of calls, nasty calls, from the bank. saying you must pay. i couldn't pay my property payments. my business was bad. so in the year 2015, i got a loan, thank god, that somebody helped me. i paid it off. it still wasn't good. i had a long term paying my mortgage payments. so i signed it off to my brother. i don't have any house anymore. so i'm homeless. lucky th

i'll show you a picture later in the appreciation of that rescue. also on september 23, s.f.o. had an incident where 70 miles offshore, u.s. coast guard helicopter brought some adults that were on a disabled boat, and they transported them to a hospital. that's also going to be on the presentation. on september 25, we assisted at the transbay overpass, i'm sure you've read about it, the cracked beams. we assisted multiple state agencies in creating a safety plan until they had it cordoned off and a safe perimeter to be out of the way. that's ongoing. some functions on september 8, we sent two of our k9s to hawaii for hurricane olivia. for hurricane michael, we have not gotten any requests as of yet, but that's obviously a devastating storm headed for florida. company drills this month, last month, some for forceable entry. on september 9, also the stair climbing event at 555 california street. special recognition to c.d. 3, who did a good job of running up the stairs. on september 8, off duty members and duty stations participated in the citywide cleanup, helping the community.

and importantly when delegates got off the plane they were welcomed to s.f.o. th messaging and welcomed and there were light poles across the city. but we as a department wanted to take more of a personal touch. so we spent time in advance of the summit creating partnerships with the hotels. and these are really important because we wanted to help them to share their sustainability and successes and highlights with these delegates when they came to each hotel. but beyond that we wanted to create partnerships because we wanted to do things that we were really proud of, like remove single-use water bottles from the rooms of delegates. and for the hotels that had the majority of delegates attending them we removed them and replaced them with reusable water bottles that are all in front of you. not just a welcome though, but a welcomer and a celebration and a recognition and appreciation. but this wasn't just about the delegates. this wasn't just about the summit. this was about bringing the community to the conversation which is why we hosted a school education pos

the minimum compensation for our airport workers to $17 an hour beginning november 13, 2018. this was a proud moment to support a long in coming raise for our low wage workers and at s.f.o., and now we need to address the wages of our ihss and nonprofit workers. a raise of $2 an hour could affect many people. they do not have the power to negotiate better wages through contract negotiations like we did for police and fire unions this year. as a result, when this minimum compensation legislation stalls, so does the prospect of wage increases for these low wage workers. making $15 an hour, they, themselves are one step away from homelessness. this is how we plan for the future. our senior population is expected to grow 61% between 2011 and 2030, and there is a decrease in residential care homes for people with disabilities. currently shelter beds are occupied by a large number of seniors. 57% of people are over 50 years old, and 30% of over 60. these are positions that increasingly we are not able to recruit or retain due to the pay and the high cost of living in san francisco. in summary, my amendments are as follows: for ihss workers, raising ihss workers to 17 an hour beginn

s.f.o. units helping patients that were 70 miles offshore. there was pictures of the drill. i have the battalion chief, the amr assisting as well. this is the eoc, emergency operating center. you see deputy chief cochran. kyle lee is also there and josh smith. this is a picture sent to us to the pio. these were our members with the baldwin brothers on this truck at 9/11 in 2001. cochran was part of the group that went during that time. they should be commended for the job they did including danny ar armenta who has passed. this is resources for people in need. there was an incident out in the bay. this was the incident i mentioned earlier out by the pump house where the victims had fallen down the cliff. we rescued them with the fire boat. safety fair. district eight. non-profits and city agencies. thanks to mayor breed for backing the program. this is a picture i didn't mention earlier. but we were doing drills at sales force. this was the gondola. we are assimilating gondola rescue in case it got stuck. this was a happy to be helping, the 9/11 meal pack. the 3,000 meals th
