we have generated thousands of jobs, both in the philippines and in san francisco. we have donated thousands of dollars to various events, such as the cleanup of the river, the symphony of the philippine cultural center, and the list goes on and on. we would not have been able to do that without being partners with the philippine consulate general. i am here speaking on behalf of the san francisco rod blagojevich christoff of voters. -- the san francisco pissed off voters. we research everything on the ballot. we write up a description of it. we raise money to print up a voter guide and we go out nine and a passing it out around the city and we are exhausted by the idea of a runoff election. by the end of the season we are done and we want to take a break and go home for thanksgiving. the idea of starting for a runoff election is exhausting. from my manpower perspective and a money perspective. and looking back in the history, runoff elections are before our time but we saw time and time again brought out -- runoff elections have less turnout and the turnout is a demographic shift. it is older and wiser and richer. it does not look much like san francisco and we're concerned about that. especially for supervisor races , there is a huge drop off and turn out in interest and we have a hard enough time exciting people and getting people interested in local politics when this coincides with national ticket races. trying to go out and say

of community is the thing that keeps a san francisco vital in the tech world. it keeps all of these restaurants filled, by having these industries attracted to and constant in san francisco. when the san francisco board of supervisors passed of this legislation, they were thinking about the economic vitality of san francisco. how do we stay competitive in global world and in the global economy? i would like to go to the overhead if i could and show you a couple of pictures. excuse me, to the computer display. i did some research in the history of mobile foods and found a lot of pictures like this, mobile food vendors in chinatown, pictures were credited by children. this one i found particularly interesting on the 1600 block, the oyster loaf. you can of that script. these are a couple of street food vendors. years later, we see the same on the restaurant. it is the brick and mortar that accrue from this. this is not a new idea, but change is constant in the restaurant world. right now, 35 at the corner is replaced by, i believe, a 12- story building. that is goo

there are numerous stores already in the san francisco chronicle and the examiner about family homelessnessward to tell the stories, it is very difficult. but those types of synergies between advocates telling their stories and media picking up on them are ways that we can actually shed light on our troubles and how we can come up with a response. i was very pleased to see, this morning, the story in "the chronicle" about a family making commitments to help families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. i think those types of support that come from time to time are essential for us to be able to support struggling families and to show the kind of city that we truly are. so we owe a great thanks to the efficacy effort for bringing this july, to the attention of city officials, and also to this family as well for their commitment to the families. i believe we have much more to do. as a city, not looking at -- and no, fixes in the last 18 months, we're looking at long-term, how we can put our services in place and how we can support struggling families. i know we are greatly challenged
