to just echo the staff at the san francisco general hospital. i heard a stat a few years, nearly half of the emergencies at san francisco general hospital result from pedestrian collisions. so when you think about the pressure that's put on that system and the first responders who often bring the folks there, it gives you a sense of the scale and the impact of traffic safety in san francisco beyond just what we're talking about here today. the folks who are on the front line of that are largely men and women of the san francisco police department who are often the first responders to the scene of fritraffic collisions. and as dr. aragon said. it's not just fatalities, but 200 people or so that are injured each year in san francisco. so the fire department plays a critical role in getting people to the trauma center so that they can be helped as quickly as possible. so i want to acknowledge and ask to say a few words, our fire chief joanne hayes-white. >> good morning. thank you for being here. i did want to comment on everyone's alignment around

the streets. it was launched in june of 2017. and currently has 120 stations in san francisco. the network of the bike stations are ultimately to expand to over 300 stations and approximately 4500 bikes in san francisco by the end of 2018. now because of the design of the bike share programme, the bike share roll-out programme in my district and other communities on what some consider to be the outskirts of san francisco, we won't get bike stations until the fall of this year. despite the programme beginning in june of 2017. so, i'm sure you can see why i'm a little personally frustrated about this. and this is why jump bikes came into the picture. they saw an opportunity to provide service communitis that were not being efficiently served by the city's programme. i can't necessarily speak to the transportation access and parts of district four or district 11 that will be getting ford go bike stations at the end of this year, but as -- this year as my district will. but if you know anything about the southeastern neighbourhoods, you know that historically there's been an unquant

we coordinated with the san francisco red cross. i wanted to talk about the work we do to ensure the safety and integrity of gas lines. our program governs the approach we take for knowing our assets and the condition of our assets, what threats and risks the assets pose and then developing mitigation strategies to address the risk. through that program, we're constantly rooking at the pipeline to reduce risk. enforcing quality standards and conducting leak surveys on a frequent basis. in fact it was surveyed in july of this year and none were found. for us it's having trained and confident personnel, best in class tools and proper procedures in place. when something goes wrong, we figure out why and how to prevent something similar from happening again. we'll continue to support our customers. thank you for providing us to present and i'm happy to answer questions. >> so, you don't have a preliminary theory of the cause of the explosion? >> not at this time. it's under investigation with exponent and we expect to have that investiga
