when we compare to the san francisco population. that blacks are over represented where asians are under represented compared to the numbers that we see. there are also transed by sex. males are over half of the san francisco population but 65% of the traffic fatalities. those patterns are different by mode. all bicycles killed last year were male. the voter of pedestrian fatalities were male. two-thirds of drivers who died were male. over the two motorcycles that died, one was male. we also see really serious disparities when we look at homelessness. five people in 2018 were people experiencing homelessness. that makes up 22% of all vision zero fatalities. by contrast just under 1% of the san francisco population is homeless. this is a huge disparity. we think this group may be particularly vulnerable to traffic injuries. when we go to the police data to see the primary collision factors for each fatality, we see year-over-year the same things contribute. last year failure to yield to pedestrians for speed not stopping at red signa

i i am now the executive director of the administrators of san francisco, and we are part of the federal association of school administrators afl/cio local three. i was born and raised in san francisco. went to all the schools in the mission, went to public colleges, and became a teacher in our district. but first, i was an active parent, outspoken, and they pulled me up to be a special ed paraprofessional, and i was so strong because i had grownup in the mission, i could handle it. i became a substitute teacher. then, i became a middle schoolteacher, and then for 13 years, i had the honor to serve our teachers as supervisor of pathways for paraprofessionals and teachers, and now i'm serving our administrators as part of the union. i'm here tonight to ask you to please renew contracts. notice some of them are for one years, some of them are for three years. we don't get tenured. you have the opportunity to see us over and over, so -- but i'm here for one special person that i have spent many years working with, and that's patricia deietrich. she's currently working in special education.

one of the mistakes that people in san francisco finally realized, when the san francisco development agency was dissolved, they had created all of these parks. and even as i speak, the city is still grappling with the maintenance of all of those parks. here you have all of these assets, all over the place throughout the city. and we do not know what they're going to look like in 20 years' time and even don't talk about the 30 years. we have the responsibility here at this agency for the maintenance, for some of the spaces, our responsibility. and what we need to do is broaden this, so we're not gephart changing ourself -- we're not short changing ourselves into any models, given again all of the mistakes in san francisco. what i would suggest, we sneed to engage in an exercise for the administration. we need to create private entities of the administration of this park. we have discussed the c.f.d. option. there are limitations. there are still some holes to plug in there. and again looking at some of the successful models in the country, we will need to engage in those exercises so

but most importantly, working for the city and county of san francisco gives employees an opportunity to contribute their ideas, energy, and commitment to shape the city's future. - thank you for considering a career with the city and county of san francisco. good morning. thank you all for being here and i'm happy to be join bid supervisor from district ten and our new director of the department of public health. also here are the people from my office working tirelessly to help protect another generation of san francisco youth from becoming addicted to ecigarettes. that has been lead my chief deputy and chief of strategic advocacy, sarah eeisneburg. in december, the u.s. surgeon general, jerome adams, issued a warning of the epidemic of ecigarette use and called this a cause of great concern. know the risks, take action, protect our kids. he was absolutely correct and we're heeding that warning. today we are taking action to protect our young people. the steps we are taking are necessary and all the more urgent because another arm of the federal government has failed to do its job.
