the san francisco civil grand jury investigation reviewed the status and progress of san francisco's efforts regarding pedestrian safety and emerging mobility recognition option. these efforts improve policies and support policies and procedures suitable for personal mobility advancements yet to arrive on san francisco's sidewalks and streets. the key recommendations -- the key findings and recommendations, presented in this report, focus on ways to improve education and outreach for pedestrians and motorized device users, enforcement of existing ordinances and laws to help reduce injuries. to better identify root causes and the contractual terms regarding liability and responsibility for injuries, device maintenance, and repair. to incorporate emerging shared mobility devices into the city's transportation planning and infrastructure. adherence to the city charter transportation goals require continued and diligent efforts to improve pedestrian safety. in the background section of our report, there is a timeline of pedestrian safety efforts in san francisco that is outlined. these in

i am a member of the san francisco committee for human rights in the philippines. i've born and raised in san francisco. i'm a sunset kid like brandon lee. thank you to supervisors mar, haney and ronen. brandon lee, if you know about his story, he has given his life to the famed rice terraces of the philippines and indigenous people that have managed this ecosystem for over 2,000 years. brandon was a volunteer and he not only sacrificed monetary gains but it nearly government him his life being gunned down outside of his home. i was in the philippines when we heard about brandon being attacked. and we went to the general hospital and i wanted to show you a video that was taken at the general hospital and this is of his mother. before we left, i said -- he had six cardiac arrests. when we arrived, we heard that he had eight cardiac arrests. i can't believe that he had eight cardiac arrests and survived. he was alert and he smiled and (inaudible). >> i'm just so happy and my family and i are very thankful for the car that he is seeking here at the general hospital. we

brandon represents the best of san francisco. he -- his cross cultural and cross national solidarity represents a tradition and a history and a legacy in this city that i think that we should all be very proud of. and the last thing that i want to say is that we -- during our time in the philippines we were able to meet with many of brandon's comrades and his colleagues, indigenous leaders, leaders within manila and in all of them they shared with us that what happened to brandon should not be viewed as an isolated and random incident. but it's part of a campaign of targeting people who are standing up for environmental rights and for human rights across the philippines. and i think that brandon would want us to connect with what happened to him with what is happening with so many people, especially poor people, especially indigenous people in the philippines. and to say that -- that their stories and their experiences are not going to be silenced and that to the extent that our government is quiet about this, we're going to be lo

the s.f. unified school district, related with educators in san francisco unified. it was referencing the children, just wondering where that percentage was based on? >> i looking, bringing up the slide, there are statistics about the san francisco unified district requiring 3600 teachers to meet their classroom needs, that maybe the statistic? 10% attrition rate. >> specific the child population. where did you get the numbers from? maybe it's a previous presentation where it was discussed, there was 4.5% of children that live in san francisco -- are in the public school system? >> i'm sorry, i did not reference that number. maybe the question is also about how are we going to meet the needs to continue to increase -- >> specifically thinking of the families with children and families that live together in a household. part of the population, i'm just assuming, maybe this is from the other powerpoint. i'm thinking, are we talking about the entire population of san francisco? which population are we referencing? i thought that count was low. i know we never -- we need

phil served on the san francisco parks alliance board of directors and is a commissioner for the san francisco housing authority. he was a member of the richville couple board of directors for almost 15 years and was the chair for two of those years. during that time, he led efforts to complete the rich trail in san francisco and reroute it to green spaces, work that continues today thanks to the momentum he built and i actually served on that same board of directors when it was first formed in the 1980s. by every account, including my own, he was a mentor and a friend to countless colleagues in the financial social justice and environmental fields. earlier this year, his life's work was honored with a dedication of the phil arnold trail in golden gate park in february named in his honor. the trail maya goes through livk trees in the northeast corner of the park providing the type of respite from urban life that phil was so intent on preserving for fellow san franciscans. he married his wife of 33 years who i used to fondly and sometimes not so fondly refer to as the 12th member of th
