the presidio in san francisco is unique. it's a pork and a former military post which now combines opportunity for the public to explore history, culture, and nature in a densely populated area. the interior of the park is managed by the trust. this is primarily the inferior of the park. there is also the national park service and the ggnra which manages the remainder of the presidio. the open space of the presidio is a mixture of a natural and historic landscapes bordered by homes. minimizing the threat of wildfires to the presidio, its visitors to the park and the adjacent community is of great concern to the trust. the high-value trusts increase the value. there was recently a risk assessment and a wildfire management plan. it was found that the overall level of wildfire risk throughout the park is low. that's the good news. both as a result of concentrated vegetation program which has been implemented over the past 10 to 20 years since the park was created and because of the cool, moist climate found in the presidio throu

the grant program is a grant program specifically for nonprofits in san francisco to divert material from landfill. it's important to find the san francisco produce market because there's a lot of edible food that can be diverted and they need positions to capture that food and focus on food recovery. >> san francisco produce market is a resource that connects farmers and their produce with businesses in the bay area. i think it's a basic human right to have access to healthy foods, and all of this food here is available. it's a matter of creating the infrastructure, creating jobs, and the system whereby none of this goes to waste. since the beginning of our program in july 2016 to date, we've donated over 1 million pounds of produce to our community partners, and that's resulted in over 900,000 meals to people in our community, which we're very proud of. >> carolyn at the san francisco produce market texts with old produce that's available. the produce is always excellent. we get things like broccoli, brussels sprouts, bell peppers. everything that we use is nice and fresh, so when o

the san francisco model of h.i.v. care was innovated by a city that had been abandoned by the federal government to deal with really challenging public health crises here at the local level and although we were angry , and many of the folks here protested the federal government's inaction in the department of public health, and other city agencies, and in our nonprofit partners, we innovated and we created a san francisco model of care that has now resulted in new h.i.v. infections dropping below 200 for the first time. that is amazing. we will get to zero, but the fact we were able to do it there gives me hope we can do it here with our behavioral health services. and dr. bland will get us there. thank you, again, mayor breed for all of your work and all of these behavioral health issues. it can't be done in a day, but you have not rested a day since you have started. i am grateful for that. i want to thank my cochair, i want to thank the d.p.h. staff who work so hard on running these all of the members to do such ext

he passed away at the age of 81 in san francisco. jack was known as the mayor of the grove, thanks to the countless hours he dedicated as a volunteer, caretaker, and original board member of the aids memorial grove in golden gate park. born in fort dodge, iowa, jack earned a degree in marketing in 1960 and joined the u.s. army where he served overseas. in the 1970s, jack moved to the bay area, and he met his life partner in a chance meeting. he helped raise his children and grew close with stephen's former wife. in the late 1980s, together with a group of friends devastated by the aids crisis, imagine the garden where the people who lost their life to aids could be remembered. after stephen lost his own life, jack helped in his memory. his dedication helped transform a swamp into a treasured and safe gathering space. he rarely missed a volunteer day, often showing up with cookies he baked himself. he looked at the garden and the circumstance of friends for those who lost their lives to aids are permanently inscribed in the ground. he

annual transgender awareness month to help raise the awareness of san francisco's transgender communities. we have the opportunity today to celebrate the contributions of extraordinary trans san franciscans through today's first ever board of supervisors transawareness month special commendations. now to be honest, it should not have taken us this long. 53 years ago, a group of trans women and drag queens led one of the first documents lgbt up risings. we now have the country's first ever transgender cultural district located in supervisor haney's district which encompassed the site of the riots and other locations. 23 transgender people have lost their lives to antitrans violence this year. most were black transgender women. even in the face of tremendous inequities, discrimination, and violence, however, trans communities resilient. in san francisco, numerous communities have won numerous awards and rights. in 2014, thanks to the leadership of the transcommunity, san francisco became the first city to offer publicly funded transition related surgery access which
