at this point here on the schuylkill expressway the road is wet. it was an ugly scene around 7:00 a.m. if you were out on the roads no matter you were you likely witnessed an accident. the worse at the gulph mills and it one person killed a chain reaction of cars. multiple accidents. there were so many people injured state troopers had to bring the bus in to bus all the injured to area hospitals. talking to state police they say they have a tough time responding to the accidents because the roads are so treacherous. to give you an idea how bad it was, in delaware, a state trooper was injured he was responding to an accident in claymont delaware, on naamans road. a car slid into him. he was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. there was an accident involving a fire truck it jackknifed and slit and involved in another accident. a spokesperson for the philadelphia police is urging drivers to stay off the roads if you can. you have many bridges that are shut down, have yet to reopen, because the roads are bad. philadelphia police,

now this part of the schuylkill expressway is like a parking lot. we are bumper to bumper but we do see that the eastbound section in this areas opened and people are driving along and there is a multi vehicle pile up up ahead, that we're trying to head toward. when we did get on the schuylkill expressway we saw several minor accidents. of course, we are relating that to the weather, icy conditions on the road. a lot of people coming out not realizing how bad it is because it looks like just rain but it is very icy on the road. if you are heading out please be careful but pennsylvania state police have been suggesting for a lot of folks just stay indoors if you don't to have travel right new, because it is pretty dangerous out here and folks, if you are on the road please leave the shoulder opened for emergency vehicles. a lot of folks have been trying to drive on the shoulder and they are starting to have a backup on the shoulder which then causes emergency vehicles no where to go when they are trying to get to the scene of an accident. and that inc

lets go back outside over that accident on the schuylkill expressway. been a mess this morning. an accident on the westbound side of the schuylkill expressway right the here near montgomery drive with one koran top of another one right here near montgomery drive. what we are looking at here is our look from center city. this is backup that begins on the vine expressway on to the schuylkill all the way up to montgomery drive. there is only one lane, maybe two getting by, possible on the schuylkill expressway but this is impacting everybody that is leaving town this morning. even crossing town trying to get out towards city avenue or towards king of prussia your best betties to use kelly drive or martin luther king drive. leaving the city to at least get out to city avenue and further your trip further west. there is also a crash on the walt whitman bridge, it is on the philadelphia aside, heading into new jersey right here near the toll plaza that is causing delays for anyone heading in to south jersey. we have the new jersey turnpike a tractor trailer j

we do have incident on the schuylkill we'll get to in just a second. ing right now on the roosevelt, southbound commuting, do have few more vehicles jumping on the roadway, but real now major delays only 5:46. usually don't see the bubble of a rush hour, until about 6:15 or soy. so we have little time. unfortunately, for the schuylkill expressway, it is a little bit different. eastbound on 76, we have incident overturned vehicle accident, at the onramp to the eastbound 76 side from gulph mills. as you will notice, traffic still using the onramp, but you do have emergency teams on scene. the last time i looked at this shot it, did look like tow truck was none -- now on scene to remover the overturned vehicle right up on the embankment here, causing bit of gaper delay. still have flares on the gown, still very active scene if you are traveling in that area. i would suggest avoiding it if you are jumping on the eastbound side of the schuylkill. try and get on before or after that point. and, also, watch out for accident, in montgomery county, this is at ri

this is the schuylkill and this is the ramp here from belmont avenue to the schuylkill eastbound. ne. traffic is slowing past the z. now eastbound on the schuylkill you're kind of stop and go from the conshohocken curve to belmont. westbound you're jammed more so with your normal volume from past the boulevard to belmont right there. let's go to the big picture and talk bo some other problems in the area. that's the accident on the schuylkill where you see 13 miles an hour westbound past belmont at this point so a slow go there. in the wynnefield section we still have 57th street blocked and that's because of a water main break. so just watch for that if you're headed in that area. slow speeds on i-95 about 16 miles per hour southbound on i-95 southbound near girard, 27 miles an hour southbound near cottman. we have a couple of accidents on the turnpike. past willow grove an accident involving a pickup truck that reportedly ran into the guardrail. it's blocking the right lane so causing some slowing on the turnpike eastbound here. in chester county, a couple of accidents going on.

a big example of that would be on the schuylkill expressway so would i say about 15 to 20 minutes ago we had an earlier vehicle on the westbound side of 76, that spun out on to the roadway and was turned into a horizontal position approaching the area of conshohocken. as you will notice there are emergency teams on the scene. it looks like there is a disable truck now on to the shoulder but if you are traveling on the westbound side of the schuylkill you you will note thinks activity off to the right and we will also notice a little slow down on your left stuck in it and it toss seem that more emergency teams are arriving on the scene and that will be compromising the right-hand lane as well. so traveling in this area give yourself some more time. anyone traveling on any major any roadway, even residential areas the the snow is still out there in a big way whether it is pack snow residentially or black snow or black ice rather on the highways. look at the burlington bristol bridge which is now expecting to be opened, so it is on stand by. try to avoid that if you can ukee. >>> more on
