the sierra seeing the snow.the snow levels not as low as we'd like, but we'll still see some impressive totals through the next 24 hours. notice the satellite. the jet stream is acting like an arrow into the bay area. this is firing in the moisture. the areas of darker blue and purple indicating some intense downpours across the hills. skies start to clear out and we'll see the showers shutting down. rainfall totals will be impressive again. watch san francisco and oakland going easily above an inch of rain and maybe as much as an inch and a half. ki king, we'll see 40s and 50s. look out for gusty winds. heading into tomorrow, we'll see the south bay. around the east bay, mid-50s as well. showers shutting down. close to 60 in santa rosa. the seven-day forecast, rain for monday. watch the pattern here through the week. things are going to start to dry out. this is not good news. high pressure will build in again. you can see the weekend forecast in view there at the edge of the screen. we have mainly just fog to

and that means snow in the sierra as well. meters ron mott is here with a look at the conditions. >> a real busy 24 hours around the bay area. and as we just saw moments ago, candlestick park, it was the parking lot this morning that had about a foot and a half of some standing water as you can see from the video. we did have some of that parking lot filled with water. it took until about the afternoon for some pumps to try to get that out. now during the day tomorrow, very likely we will see more rain pushing back into the bay area that could cause some localized street flooding. tovs show you the rain totals asheert l 24 hours. it will give you an idea of why we had so much trouble in terms of the runoff. around the bay area, up to six inches of rain around the santa cruz mountains. that was the exception to the rule, most places around the bay area picked up about one to two inches of rain, from san francisco over to o klo d.d.d. and two to three and even four inches of rain in the north bay. so right now, yes we are in w be

look at the heavy snow coming down in the sierra nevada. cold front has pushed down. we are looking at the bulk of the activity, snow levels already lowering. snow at lake level. upwards of about half a foot. most of it above 7,000 feet. locally back home, santa rosa and windsor, looking at light rain. out towards vacaville and dublin and hayward a light shower. down around the south bay, we're looking at the hills, a little wet and down through watsonville and ben lomond continuing to pick up rain. they picked up over 6 inches in the past 24 hours. santa rosa nearly three inches and rest of the bay area a healthy inch are so except for san jose. they were around three-quarters of an inch. we'll talk about more rain will come tomorrow and look ahead all coming up. >>> the first big rain of 2012 was welcomed by many. things are calming down this morning but the storm did bring flooded streets and downed trees and very slow moving traffic. >> we knew it was just a matter of time before the rain returned to the bay area and made rivers out of north bay streets. >> we need

the north and 21% of normal. we just mentioned central sierra 13% and the southern sierra, 26% of normal. the department of water resources management are saying we do have good reservoir storage. right now we are still hoping obviously for some snow in the next couple months, and hopefully that will help the situation. from the heavenly camera, 8300 foot elevation, and this is just from an hour or so ago. there is no snow there. not a lot going on. just man made snow. but they had record heat in tahoe again today. the temperature in the lake tahoe area, 58 degrees. it is hard to get snow when you have record warmth. temperatures in the 40s and the 50s right now, and the fog is not quite as widespread as what it was like this morning visibility in most areas is doing just fine. san jose is reporting so fog down to 5 miles. so do look out for patches of fog overnight tonight. mostly sunny and mild tomorrow. still no rain over the next seven days. so it is just to give you an idea what is going on. here is what is preventing the rain from getting here. it is a ridge of high pressure, and it
