the sioux city parks and rec department held the first public input on a possible new campsite in sioux city. the campsite had two proposed locations: near the chautauqua ball park, or a location off of highway 12 near the railroad museum. those at last night's meeting leaned toward the railroad museum location. one frequent camper says a nice campground would attract campers from across the state. the miracle league of sioux city looked to deliver a home run presentation to the sioux city city council. the organization built an inclusive baseball facility for people with disabilities in riverside park last year. and now leaders with the miracle league want to improve it. they plan to build a "splash pad" this summer, and the group would like the city to contribute financially. the splash pad would cost 197-thousand dollars. they'veaised about 70- thousand for the project. the city council contributed more than 300-thousand dollars of the total 1 point 1 million raised for the first phase of the park... which included the concession area, restrooms, playground and the baseball field. miracle league's board president says the splash pad will help bring kids together.
