the north bay starting around the morning hours. so we'll take a look at that and tell you when it gets to the south bay. turn it over to kristen. >> topping our news, the battle over where gang members can gather in oakland is coming to a head this week. a judge begins hearing evidence on the controversy tomorrow as the city police chief announces gang injunctions are working diminish his opinion. amy is live with more. >> the police chief here likes injunctions but the idea's very controversial in oakland. even the oakland's teachers union opposes them. the injunction doesn't name anyone under the age of 18 but they worry it will affect students that people who aren't in gangs will be pulled over and questioned. that's the concern throughout this city it amounts to legalize the racial profiling. there's a junk in north oakland and the city attorney and police chief say the improvements there speak for themselves. they say drug arrests there are down 70%. opponents say the cost is too high. the city spent $761,000 to enforce the injunction. that's money they say could have been spent on education and job

the north bay hills just to the east of santa rosa. it is coming down out there really heavily in the south bay. we'll find out how your drive is looking with all the moisture, what's happening out there? >>> well, it looks like wine country is now snow country coming on the weekend. we'll talk about the east bay hills, 680 through danville, san ramon and concord, that's where you are seeing a lot of the activity on your radar as well. we are seeing activity at west 24 and gallanos. there was a spinout there. 580 and 680, no problems across the richmond/san rafael bridge, but gusty winds all over the bay. another report at northbound 101 counter-commute heading away from the richmond bridge, but we have an accident reported as a two-car accident at lincoln avenue. visibility is tough through the area as well. continuing down 101 across the golden gate bridge through the tunnel, we have a nice drive there. this shows the soupy conditions. crews are moving the cones in preparation for the morning commute. if you see a maintenance crew out there, slow for the cone zone. back to you. >>> we continue

we have a decent amount of activity down near the south bay. that will continue to push in as temperatures are dropping right now. in fact, gilroy and morgan hill getting into the 30s at this point, just not cold enough right now. if we continue to see this consistent activity, could there be snowfall there down at the sea level? of course. as we head through tonight as we call for, and right up here into the north bay, we look at the freeze warning in place tonight with temperatures into the 20s. a lodng duration event in the 2s and low 30s. that's where that freeze warning is it in effect for all the low-lying areas in the north bay. remember those pets and, of course, the plants too. meanwhile temperatures in the 40s across most of the board right now, and with this cold air continuing to drop down, snow levels will be at sea level tomorrow. the thing you all feel, whether you see a snowflake or not, is this cold rush of air once again for tomorrow morning as temperatures will be dropping to the 30s. look at this. midnight tonight, mid and up
