the north bay and san francisco at 46 degrees. today's forecast brings it up to 65 in the north bay, 64 in the east bay and south bay, also 64 degrees. we'll take a look at the weekend and what to expect with our next chance of rain coming up. let's check in with mike tracking several issues for the south bay. >> that's right, kari, it's early. a couple of updates. this is a major update. instead of southbound, it's northbound 101 at tullie road. that explains why we see slowing on the northbound side. northbound mild slowing, the build just gentle for the south bay, as we look at the rest of your bay, we have slowing over the tri-valley at the dublin interchange and the orange highlighting there, conditions might be fog in the north bay. we haven't seen any in our live cameras. this is a much bigger issue. still a closure eastbound 80 at appian way. force are forced off and then back on. that's a mild inconvenience for the traffic flow. the biggest issue is why. you'll handle that. >> thank you, mike. an update to the story mike was just telling you about on interstate 80, it's closed eastbound in pinole, in the eastbound direction

in the east bay, 37 degrees. in the south bay 42 degrees. a closer look at the north bay. we have freezing temperatures. santa rosa, freezing there, but maybe frost in the low lying areas even as it dips into the upper 30s. as we go into the rest of the day, we will see these temperatures warming up nicely. i'll detail that and we'll look ahead to the weekend which includes some rain. that's coming up in less than ten minutes. let's check with mike for a look at what's happening as you head out the door. >> starting in san jose we have a nice light volume for '101 north of 680. things are looking great all over in silicon valley. we got reports of a crash in the last few seconds, northbound 101 at the 80 merge. sounds like a fire truck is blocking your fast lane near the center divide. that's causing a bit of a slowdown. again, only one lane blocked. a lighter volume throughout the south bay. you have your northbound trends showing slowing. no major issues southbound. farther south around stephenson, reports of a fender better off the shoulder. it looks like everything is

see the delays northbound highway 17. >> we were following the accidents with breaking news from the south bay and matt keller is at at deadly crash in san jose this morning. >> we arrived on the scene here in south san jose expressway, and the vehicle involved in the accident is still here there is a lot debris in the area of the vehicle. so the fire department said before 4:00 this morning they arrived on the scene they found three people here, two draped inside the pickup and one person was dead at scene and the other two were taken to the hospital in critical condition. the police department is doing their investigation with in word on the cause of the accident. the vehicle is resting again the center divider here. there are trees in the area. we are not sure if it is rest again the tree or if that is what the driver crashed into. they are investigating. of course, we will let you know what the police department is saying about the accident and as they try to determine a cause southbound direction on the expressway is problemmed -- blocked off. so avoid this area if possible. >> thanks, ma

by 4:00, showers developing in the south bay. stop at 5:00 in the morning. you notice much of the north bay is dry but from san francisco south to the east, we're still dealing with damp roadways and soaking showers. by mid-day the system is out of here and we turn to partly sunny skies but looks like a decent soaking of rain is on the way. we're used know north bay getting all the rainfall but this time the heaviest rain may fall in south bay. generally a quarter to half inch of rain. we have a winter weather advisory around south lake tahoe and winter storm warning for the higher locations. four to seven inches likely over the sierra passes. may shut down the highways. one to three inches likely at lake level the forecast through monday evening, perhaps ten inches around south lake tahoe, nine inches around tahoe city. overnight, the rain spreads from north to south. a rainy overnight period. temperatures falling into the 50s cross the region. tomorrow we'll track the morning showers and dry out by the afternoon, but a cool november day. temperatures in the

the north bay. that's where the rain is going to start first. then towards san francisco, and 50 to start. then eventually down towards the south bay. if you're early commuters, you definitely won't have super wet roadways but showers beginning. you can see the storm system, 9:00 p.m. tonight, is still off to the north as we have been telling you. as we head through tomorrow morning, check it out, cold front moves crew marin, napa, and sonoma counties bringing heavier pockets of rain to santa rosa, napa, maybe towards san francisco, and also contra costa county. but really by 11:30 in the morning, everyone should have at least some sort of rainfall by then. maybe even a few heavier pockets near the peninsula, and then down towards the south bay, right around the noon hour. we'll likely hold on to a new showers until 2:30 in the afternoon and then we'll begin to clear out, at least for tuesday's forecast. how much rainfall are we looking at? it looks good for at least a quarter inch up into portions of the north bay. once you get south of san francisco, you can see a quarter inch and less. notice the blue areas here on the rainfall ma

the peninsula. half moon bay seeing showers right now. even towards san bruno, headed towards redwood city and eventually towards the south bay. all of us will see some rain tonight. i don't think there is a place in the bay area that will go untouched from any showery activities. expect damp roads for tomorrow morning. tomorrow morning, that's when we'll see the heaviest of rain and skies begin to clear out towards the afternoon. it is going to be chilly. we're talking 60s widespread across the entire bay area. let's time this thing out. heavy rain exported from 3:00 in the morning until about 6:00. that's when we'll see the heaviest of showers. and then after that, it becomes more scattered in nature. so once the sun does come up, skies will start to clear out. we'll see a few thunderstorms towards the afternoon from the delta towards the tri-valley. i don't think it's going to be an all-day rain event. by the afternoon skies will clear out. it's going to be chilly tomorrow. we're talking 60s across the by bay area towards san mateo, even san francisco. mid 60s across every microclimate for tomorrow. and again, that cold air

let's get a closer look at the south bay. morgan hill at 39 degrees and also 39 in campbell and allenrock park at 40 degrees. opening up the picture, we do see low clouds and fog across parts of the north bay starting out at 35 degrees. as we go hour by hour in livermore. look at that temperature at 6:00. now, that's normally right before sunrise. we'll see our coldest temperature and then it warms up nicely. jumping 10 or 11 degrees. every couple of hours and by lunchtime at 63 degrees. a very nice afternoon. 66 degrees at 2:00. and then once the sun sets, our temperatures dipping, once again. expect it to rise up to 70 grees today in gilroy. half moon bay 67 degrees and sunny in napa, too. 66 in pittsburg, 71 in livermore, reaching 67 degrees. there will be more cool mornings, dry afternoons, but there's some more rain in the forecast that starts to move in on sunday. especially during the morning heading into the north bay. could be a good soaker, too, before it rolls out of here. maybe you're done by the time we start out
