this is in the telegraph hill neighborhood. it turns out those homes are safe. they're not at risk of coming down. that assessment from the city engineer that was out here earlier this morning. it was last night just before 630, that the rain, that rainstorm, you remember we had that we've been reporting on caused about 400ydt of dirt and rock to crash through that retaining wall and fence onto the portion of sansome across from levi's plaza here in s.f. fortunately, no cars were parked there at the time. no one was hurt. very fortunate. the department of public works feels like the rest of the hillside, which is made up of a lot of rock. it's more like a small mountain. they feel like it's safe. the engineers looked at the rock and they feel that what's left now is pretty stable, but they want to keep a close eye on it. right? you don't know where all the cracks are going to be. we've gone up in the past with specialized geologists and hillside stabilization folks who are rappelling down, kind of looking at everything piece by piece. if they see rock that looks

he's been monitoring a rockslide in the telegraph hill neighborhood. progress up there with the cleanup? no. and the city doesn't even appear like they're getting ready to clean it up. they've just barricaded this area. this is the rockslide you're referring to around sansome street. you can see the rockslide did spill a little bit over onto the road, but as you're looking at the traffic coming towards us, the road is still open. just this part of the lane is shut down. this happened a little bit before dinner time last night, around just before 630. so again, we're on sansome street. this is near the intersection with union, across the street from the levi's plaza here at the base of the telegraph hill neighborhood in san francisco, not far from coit tower. we assume that the city wants to make sure this hill is stable before they start moving any of these huge rocks. if you're not familiar, this is part of a larger rock. a mini mountain, if you will. that's here in the city. it appears a chunk of it sheared off at the base of this rock, if you will. s

let's show you the video of the landslide at telegraph hills. so you don't have to see the blurry images. i can tell you this probably happened at around 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. an area that is known to possibly have landslides because they have barriers in place. and that's just in case a landslide takes place that you can catch the rocks. fortunately, we are not hearing of anybody hurt or any cars damaged, but this area has been shut off as least lanes one and samson. we can tell you that geologists will be out here at 9 o'clock this morning to inspect the damage. it appears that the landslide did take place in the middle of the hill and not at the top. and that is important because back in 2007 torrential rains forced about 120 homes to be evacuated nearby out of fear, of course, city with fall right down the hill and of course, down to the roadway at samson and union. hopefully that will not happen this time. of course, today is a dry day, but we do know that the soil is saturated and we do expect more rain is tomorrow. so this obvious
