inside the old ambassador theatre. this is the scene.t it looked like a little before 1:00 this morning here on liberty heights avenue. authorities say the fire broke out around midnight and investigators aren't sure what exactly caused the fire but crews had it under control in 30 minutes. the ambassador theatre has not been a theater since 1968. it's been a church and also a sister theater of the famous senator theater in baltimore. the old theater actually sits next to a gas station and has some witnesses nearby concerned after they saw flames shooting from the building. >> it was over here on the pavement and i seen -- i seen a couple of guys get out the fire truck. one of them fell down and i seen flames coming from the naked owe. i couldn't get -- eye. i couldn't get on my phone. like the door was on fire. >> reporter: in the meantime we spoke with dispatchers overnight who say the fire that started on roberts street around 11:30 inside a vacant house fire that caused minor damage to an occupied home next door. sherrie johnson, abc
