the u.s. department of transportation, the federal transit administration. as you know, in that letter which was sent by the -- by leslie rogers who is a regional administrator of the federal transportation administration, that letter points out a number of things that quite frankly raise concerns about the mta's ability to manage this project and specifically, the letter says on page three, and i quote, the central subway project is a high risk project located in a densely populated urban center, it is the largest most complex project ever undertaken by the sfmta, thus sfmta will need to practice risk in a diligent and comprehensive manner. there's also another section of the letter that talks about -- and this is a direct quote from the letter, the mta is concerned about the ability of the sfmta to maintain its equipment and system in a state of good repair and the letter goes on to say based on the fta review of the bus and rail plans and the 20-year financial plan, fta cannot at this time determine sfmta's ability to do this. this is from the letter. so a

university doctoral student accused of disrupting air travel coast to coast has been fined by the transportation administrationucked under a rope and entered a restricted area at new york international airport last january to kiss his girlfriend goodbye. the terminal ended up being evacuated for six hours. the tsa did not released the amount of the fine for privacy reasons. >>> a movie in which governor schwarzenegger appears opened today. demonstrators were urging people to boycott the expendables. they say that's how the governor is making them feel with furlough fridays and efforts to reduce salaries to minimum wage. the governor is appealing a court ruling suspending the furloughs. he wants them to last until the state has a budget which is now 44 days overdue, and no sign of getting done anytime soon. >>> lighter note, the san francisco zoo is mourning the death of one of its more popular residents. 27-year-old andy was one of the zoo's three polar bears. she was -- she had advanced liver cancer and was euthanatized this week. she lived longer than most polar bears. most live between 20 and 25 years. andy
