this morning they flew over the u.s.s. new jersey in the missing man formation. a ceremonial wrooelt was laid following by the playing of taps. all of that in remembrance of those who died in the pearl harbor attacks. soldiers and marines all killed after the surprise attack that december morning. it was a call to arms for many americans who joined the military ready to uphold and defend the deproxy. one of those was 17 years old when he joined to fight in world war ii and another woman says her grandfather also served in that war. >> my boys and daughters know personal stories of what he went through in world war ii. they know that when pearl harbor was attacked he was in the shower. they know how a gun was thrown at them and they said shoot. so it's a beautiful thing that they can recognize what was done for them. >> reporter: the u.s.s. new jersey launched from philadelphia one year after the bombing of pearl harbor. that was 75 years ago. so today at around 1:45 there will be a big celebration on board the battleship here. also there will be firing of one of
