in general this is the diablo valley. let's use the virtual map for a second. when we plot how the air is getting loose, we will go with the virtual amount now. when we plot how the air is moving through the bay and you can see the streamlines on here. the top of the newscast, we saw how a lot of the smoke was getting corralled in the santa clara valley as you can see how the winds are moving down there and it will just pool up there. we have a similar bowl over here. it is a very subtle northerly breeze now where you could see it in the streamlines there where you could see it at my feet and over here perhaps for concord and diablo. so really a lot of how the air quality is for your part of the bay, they will have to do with two things. how close are you to the fire? but what is the wind doing through the bay? and what we are waiting for is a strong return of onshore winds, and that's coming tomorrow. so the good news is tomorrow the air quality is going to be much better. there is a big improvement coming our way. and we will see that when we get into the big

those were northeasterly winds coming from the sights valley fire on the west end of the sacramento valley. here's the best way to get a handle on that. this is right before sunset. there go the clouds. as they leave they're much higher, that's why they're moving in a different direction. as soon as they left, this huge plume of smoke moved in, and the way the winds were oriented, it directed it right over us. no doubt you saw this. anybody who looked at the sky between 7:00 and sunset no doubt was wondering, what is that? is that the point fire? and it wasn't. what did it do to air quality? if we go to that network of low-cost air quality centers which have a big array, there's a ton of them across the bay, so you get a big picture view, wrote do see one area that has poor air quality. a little bit up in sonoma county. look at napa and fairfield. see that congregation of poor air, that smoke is coming from the point fire. that had gotten fulled into napa valley at the lower elevations and has drifted to fairfield. that's the only place that has bad air quality right now. it all comes back

not as hot as even parts of the santa clara valley or east bay. off in the middle portion of the 80s. temperatures peak on saturday. not likely to set new record high temperatures, compare in the forecast highs for saturday to where the records stand and will be way, way away from the records in san francisco and oakland. even some of the hotter spots will be anywhere from 7-10 degrees below the daily records on saturday. livermore will hit 100 degrees, the record is 110. could be a lot worse here in late june. once the temperatures return to near average on sunday that is where they will stay. 6-10 day outlook takes us through the end of june. hot weather to the east. taking us to the fourth of july. a weak signal towards warmer weather making a return to the bay area. we will keep you updated but it is a couple weeks off. one hot day on saturday. one really hot day on saturday. inland parts of the bay area, middle to upper 80s. it is warm, reasonably warm for late june. the temperatures around the bay are not going to spike nearly as much. upper

how solano county heading right into the central valley where temperatures are really scorching. d as you see right now, again, hayward, 83 degrees, the winds. that's part of the story. the good news we've got a seabreeze tried to come through the golden gate right now. it is at 23 and going right into oakland at 13. but the winds are a bit variable at times those cool ocean breezes will certainly help the firefighters if they get a chance to really prevail. there's also a beach hazard statement in effect, and that's in effect through tomorrow. dangerous waves, 15 to 20 and a risk of sneaker waves. those can really come out of nowhere as you're walking along the beach in terms of temperatures tomorrow we see a slight cooling trend already coolish at the coastline. but as you head inland conquered, the forecast tomorrow is for 86 degrees. ond for napa. 76 degrees. as you see, 86 in santa rosa. it really varies a little bit. a look at the extended forecast shows tomorrow will be the warmest of the next 7 at well, at least while. will you be cooler on the weekend and then we'll start
