we need to come together around the foundational freedoms that should unite us all to like freedom of the press. congratulations to robin and jerry. when the washingtonress club started a century ago, this country was in the thick of the women's suffrage movement. the 19th amendment was still being ratified. while activists picketed at the white house demanding the right to vote, women reporters in town were fighting another battle. they were being kept out of newsrooms and off of byline , so for $2.50 in membership, they could join the women's national press club and have a fighting chance at document he the stories of the day. today, the fight to tell the stories that matter remains at the heart of the washington press club foundation's work. i know these are exceptionally unusual, difficult, even challenging times to do your job. if i want -- if i have a closing message for you, it is that we are grateful for what you do in holding us accountable, keep fighting the good fight. america needs you. thank you.
