we work closely with the whole city family. i feel the day was a success. we have people at the city emergency operation center; we had the department operations center open, a lot of planning, all the city agencies, came together to make the day success. we open the subway early and ran extra buses to get participants to the start of the race; we were part of the regional security plan that covered all of downtown including underground stations. we had our pcos and service supervisors deployed to key locations that we could manage traffic on the street and make adjustments on the fly as needed. we get everybody to the race and back using 75 extra buses and extra rail service; we had very little in the way of problems during the day. we always learn things from these events. some small adjustments were made but overall it was a successful day not just for transportation that for the whole city. the event went rather well. finally the last item i was going to note, director heinicke noted, the 2013 biennial report to measure residents opinion on city service

are in discrimination, this is the spirit of our city, this is a wonderful way to celebrate with every community. i want to thank leaders for being great leaders from the wholeof san francisco. this is part of our dna and i want to continue the work with the mayor's office and board of supervisors, we want more reasons to celebrate in the city and gay pride is the month for the city. with that, i want to proclaim today the start of lgbt month in san francisco, pride month. you know, i think the mayor's office certainly looks to - looks at the whole cities budget and a tries to balance a number of priorities. i think you will see in the current budget there's encouraging support and the budget is growing. the mayor's office strongly supported the horrify i think the question about you know why does general fund support decline. you know, that's part of the trade-off process that happens here in this chamber and in the mayor's office >> i completely understand. there are many, many priorities that we all share and that it is a matter of balancing the priority. i completely agree with you. but it's rather - this is a rather extreme skwep. and the way i i know the way our budget process is set up the mayor does have a lot of the cards in terms of the amount of money we're allowed to allocate at the board it's tiny compared to once the mayor presents the budget. so the mayor is in the drives seat when it comes to the budget. last year, i pushed and we were able to get some patrol offers for the board. by in terms of there's limits. i know we've had this discu

summer is the time when the whole city backed with the visitors. it is not the case this year. these tourists could not find a taxi because of the roadblocks and barricades. curious about the protests. this is one of the most popular tourist attractions. this is occupied by protesters threatening to stay for as long as it takes until their demands are met. the whole area houses hotels and shopping malls. there are concerns that were the might decline as the unrest continues. areotels in istanbul starting to feel the brunt of the crisis. >> there is a drop in the number of tourists. cancellations are around 15% as we speak. if things continued the way they are, they expect much bigger drops in numbers. chores do not like to go to places where there are problems. relynce many businesses on tourism. his sales continue to drop. been alerted and many have decided not to come. those who choose to stay were confined to their hotels so no one was shopping. >> the anxiety has also spread to the stock hit, which at a certain point dropped by as much as 7%, the sharpest decline in a decad

what we could do in terms of working with the authority and working with the city as a whole to attract films and bring them to san francisco by utilizing the resource of treasure island? >> i think part of the answer was just in your question actually, that i think it's going to take a coordinated effort from a number of city departments and the board of supervisors and the mayor's office and so on to be able to make it a priority to market once again. i did note that you had been involved in that and it must have been good work because there was a lot of stuff going on at that time. i know there are commercials being made on the island "myth busters," some of the filming is done on the island, but nothing like the past. there is a bit of activity going on, but i happen to think more activity should be going on and it's maybe something that our staff and the film commission folks maybe ought to be talking about. and i think it's a very important economic development activity. so i think that the whole city should be interested in it as a job-creating opportunity, business-development o

we are speaking for justice for the whole city, for those affected by the behavioral, mental health issues, which includes many homeless people , as well as people with money and those affected by gun violence in the wonderful city of st. francis. we ask you not to cut the budget for the mental health services; the services already lacking in terms of inpatient mental health; we also speak to you about the fact that -- was in the building two new hospitals in the city without one single behavioral health bed, -- here is an opportunity to provide some resources. we have a plan that was produced by some physicians who try to deal with this issue in the city. we met with many of the supervisors and we would like to meet with mr. -- with you, mayor ed lee and also with kate and any of the other departments. we have heard the horror stories of patients being strapped a gurney for days; or released early due to lack of mental health beds and lack of resources in the city. is a huge concerned. we want to keep funding for mental health in the budget increasing it to an adequate level and hold fede

and we're looking forward to taking as much input in, not only for districts 1 and 4, but for the whole city. i also wanted to say that before i let mayor lee wrap us up today, i wanted to thank all the richmond district folks for coming out and speaking. i also see disability organizations like the fdr club and jonathan lions back there. i see merchants associations david heller and [speaker not understood], and others that are here representing our small businesses as well. and ray holland and nick baloney from the planning association for the richmond. and i see the director of the richmond area multi-services, which really provides significant and culturally sensitive and multi-cultural mental health services not just for the richmond but throughout the city. also i really appreciate all the senior and youth and family service agencies and child care and organizations that have spoken today. lastly, i wanted to thank the city department heads and reps from all of our departments for spending their beautiful saturday morning in this dark but great auditorium of the washington eagles. and

their needs to be a centralized compliance effort and so maybe having like an rsp process for the whole city, but then, having individualized training programs per department or if there is an rfp process for each department that would be a little bit more but i think what we would like to focus on is making sure that someone is named for checking the compliance, because if someone was responsible for insuring compliance it has not worked because of 13 years. and only dph has been working to implement which is awesome that they are working but we would like to see more city departments on board. >> thank you. >> so the youth commission priorities for implementation include expanding the youth staff trainings to address the barriers, and to receive quality services for all lgbtq youth. we also would like to push for ininclusive intake forms because we recognize that many city departments and contractors may not know that they are serving lgbtq youth so they did he want know how many youth they are serving much less being able to properly serve lgbtq youth. and so we see having ininclusive int

and that is something that you could do for yourself, and for your neighbors and for the whole city is make sure that your water tank is braced. >> if you look at the studies that are predicting on fires, we are going to have a lot of fires and for every water tank that is braced there is a potential of one less fire that the fire department is going to have to fight and we don't want to have any more fires than we need to. so bracing the water heater is the first thing that you want to do. >> and so easy, and you go on-line and you google, earthquake, water and heater and you google the sites where you can find the details and you can put them out there on the hardware store and you can hire a small contract tore do that for you. that is a couple of hundred bucks, the best investment. if you are in other types of building it is complicated. if you are in a high-rise building you just can't anchor your building down because there are no anchor bolts, but at that point, the tenant should be asking questions of the owner's and the managers about earthquake preparedness >> and don't take

and educational challenges and we know that while we are increasing the performance stand of the whole cities one of the highest increases in the whole state is happening here in the public schools in san francisco they are to the satisfied with just a bump we need to taken it at the highest levels and train from elementary to middle to high school and the college all of the kids in our skill set is so they can become the grounds for recruitment for every industry in our city that whether it's healthcare, technology, or whether it's tourism, and all the other great things that are happening in our city. and in fact we invested in 2012 in kid s f a special program we got funding from from the government federal department. labor to create the technology training center tech s f to reach out to disadvantaged kids in our city and make sure that they are getting the skill sets and the support that they need to so they can get in and really help us get rid of this digital guide that we suffer from and continue to suffer from in many of our communities and so transit center district plan, it's appr
