walked with the mayor from city hall about six blocks in that direction into the tenderloin and on our walk, we had to walk over human waste and syringes on the ground. the mayor said the wholeer to come up with a comprehensive long- term solution. >> how are you doing? yes. hi! >> reporter: at noon, the mayor walked out of city hall crossing civic center plaza and made her way to the civic center bart station where just six weeks ago, transit riders shot videos of deplorable conditions including open drug use, people sleeping on the floor, and acting aggressively. san francisco police say they are working with bart police and while there's a long way to go, they are starting to see a difference. >> it was the collaboration and putting a plan together with bart, all the agencies represented here today and really we have had officers working with bart down below. >> reporter: from there the mayor, police chief and department heads turned up larkin street stepping over human waste and picking up needles along the way. the mayor said the purpose of her walk was to see the conditions for herself. >> we're working every day to get to a better place but part of the walk-through ha
