with me now, david kisselbach from the ymca in new jersey. dy distributed 100,000 meals since the pandemic started. david, we obviously don't have quite as much time as we had planned for for this segment because of the breaking news, but we're happy to have you. i want to talk to you about the need here, you guys have been doing food drive events every tuesday since covid hit. about a month ago local outlets reported the lines were more than a mile long, some people waiting in line for seven hours. has demand increased in that time just in the last month? >> lindsey, thank you for having me and merry christmas. the scary part is since we started this, we were averaging 100 cars, 20 to 50,000 meals a week. and now every the last eight weeks we're averaging more than 500,000 meals since then. we're well over 200,000 meals a month. the lines are up to two miles long. and people are waiting four, five, six hours and also driving an hour to two hours to get to our place to get the food. >> my goodness. what are you hearing from some of these famil

the grant with ymca supports one connector program in chinatown. consumers enrolled in the program report feeling more connected to their community, better informed about the availability of other community based services, and report that program participation has contributed positively to their quality of life. similar to other das community service partners, both community living came pain and ymca had to modify their programs and have continued to support their clients' health and well-being through social connections. community living campaign and the ymca chinatown has pivoted many of their regularly scheduled in-person activities such as exercise classes, writing groups, and cooking classes, to on-line platforms. they both make wellness calls to their clients. and as i've said before, we don't know how long our community partners will need to provide modified programming, but we do know that social connections are essential for health and well-being of older adults and adults with disabilities, and it is especially important now. these connect

so at 4 years old his parents sent him to the local ymca where he learned to swim, wrestle, and play football. when he reached high school, dan decided to commit himself entirely to wrestling. his coach quickly saw his unmatched intensity and gave dan the keys to the gym so he could come first thing in the morning to practice. at first dan was alone but as he achieved one victory after another the rest of the team followed his lead. he worked hard but he was also born with something special, talent. talent, you either have it or you don't. during his time in high school, dan's beloved sister, diane, toughest time in his life, was murdered. afterwards, dan poured even more of his energy into wrestling and his exceptional success brought happiness and pride to his family. especially in overcoming this incredible heart break that they had with what happened to diane. as a high school wrestler, he went 64-0, not losing a single match. i have to say, jim jordan told me all about, i knew about dan but he told me things that are pretty amaze, right, jim? pretty amazing. dan then attended iow
