san franciscans are getting more it's not to work in this city. we have truly become the ending - innovation of the world. we have formed strong partnerships to give back to our city like code for america. and because of the choice we made together we have renewed confidence like rb and b to stay and grow in your city where we've even attracted others companies to pull up stakes and move to the - our area of san francisco. we found that for every job created in the tech center more additional jobs are created outside in the other areas. we're a board based foundation for our city to extend the recovery to all our residents. all our board of supervisors shares we're making things once again in san francisco. providing jobs once again for all people in our manufacturing sector. there the conspirator leadership of kate and her board and with the continued support of our workforce and development our job growth has out passed decades of decline were we're putting people back to work in literally 35 hundred other businesses companies like the local matt

who work hard to commit to this city. it's time to let them come out shadows of our city we must ask washington to pass the immigration reform bill. and we must demand a pathway to citizenship in our society for every american and every san franciscan. and this san francisco of the 21 accounting century requires a violation and move our workers around the city reliablely and efficiently. and, yes i'm talking about our public transit system. i'm talking about all our transportation systems. and one day high-speed rail. i know it's frustrating to push your way onto a overcrowded bus. i know you were frustrated in the past to reach your jobs late. i'm proud to say there's changes on the way and the nation largest addition is once again focused on operations and inviting a maintenance system. this year new hybrid buses will hit the streets. 60 new trillion buses are on the way and 1 hundred and 50 the vehicles will be over hauled. we'll see more at the time of the accidents on our streets. last year the mta adopted a new budge

i am optimistic about the future of night life in this city. i think we have turned a corner. there's a broader and broader consensus that this matters for the broader culture of san francisco. thank you. [applause] for many years, the entertainment commission -- >> for many years, the entertainment commission, which has been under the auspices of the city was guided by ed lee. he is now the mayor san francisco. he was going to be here today, but was called away. but he sent paul anderson to deliver a message. this is my second time appearing at city hall. the first time i had the opportunity again to witness a session like this, and i want to thank everybody. i want to thank supervisor olague. i have read much about the commission work from the examiner, the san francisco examiner. like jamal and my case manager. i see supervisor mar and supervisor campos and i have been reading about san francisco and all about its developments on the san francisco examiner which as you know is a free newspaper, and i have been seeing all the work you are doing in my district where i live, bay district and bringing things there and cleaning up the navy yard and affordable housing and like jamal said i am trying to get asylum. i moved into this country in 1996 at harvard university and he is my case manager and through his leadership and graciousous and kindness and getting me to places and where i can get some help and so i told jamal. i showed him all my papers and he knew i have a court date on january 31, and i have been living in this country for 1

this is rated as a very good city to live in by the united nations. but the two bedroom apartment for my son cost him $2,000. so if this t.i.c. is passed, everyone will have its own housing. only a house will not impede the development and the development of this city. i hope you people high up could help us to make this dream come true, to own a house. we are looking forward to it. thank you. >> chair wiener: thank you very much. next speaker please. >> good afternoon, arlene tran, a long time visitacion valley resident in district 10 and spokesperson for the asian alliance. today, we have over 100 residents here to support this important legislation, in order -- in addition to the hundreds of signatures that we are gathering. although we have a very capable translator today, the problem is everything is one-sided, as you can see, because many of the people that we have today are mono lingual chinese. they really don't understand the total proceeding. so would you allow me to ask them to raise their hand if they support this legislation. that is in no small part due to the activities associated with the night life and this city. that is not lost on all of us. one of the things that i think it's important to the mayor and myself as i sit here today, and i know that you guys are going to be focusing on, i looked out and i see so many pieces of the city family here engaged in this conversation. i think it is really a measurable thing that you have the chief of police introducing today's conversation and today's forum with you in addition to having the board of supervisors as civil the understand the work that you and why it is so important. having individuals like -- one of the board members spoke earlier about having oewd focusing on this. all this matters when you're trying to work collaborative late. part of the problem in the past has been people working in individual silos and not sharing information and focusing collectively on what we are trying to get done. we want to grow the numbers. we want and i like to understand it -- to understand. i think it is great that so many people are here, that we have inv

and yet, city employees in this case, or in my case, louis herrera, the city librarian used his office to withhold public records from me. he just basically didn't want it made apparent to the public that all the claims that they were making at library commission meetings had no basis. but $10 million that was claimed as a gift to the branch library improvement program was just that, nothing, but claim. and so when i went and i tried to get these documents, he held off for nine months and now we have mr. menat shaw and he comes to you and he wants to get documents about a complaint. following these complaints is kind of like a black box, you drop it in the top and whatever comes out, you are expected to live with. same goes with the office of citizen complaints of the police department. i had a city and police inspector lie to be about the existence of a document. he repeated that lie to a deputy city attorney, when i petitioned for the supervisor of records to make a ruling. told her that there was no document. and then three months later, oh, exemption. as mr. menat shaw says you hav

city. first a technical point on all of this. i was under the impression and check with dhr on this that the executive position still exists but filled on an interim basis. maybe i am wrong on that but good to make sure you're correct on that from the staff's perspective. i agree bringing it back in house because the next year is going to be really big for clean power sf and some other things and we need somebody that can be available five days a week, 50 weeks a year. i mean that's really going to be important, but the main thing i want to focus on is that the advocates for clean power sf have had some concerns with the way that lafco -- when we originally set set up lafco to work on clean power sf and especially get at the beginning of 2007 and what we needed from lafco and i believe the intention we needed somebody on task for clean power sf itself that could approach the sf puc on many occasions the sf puc wasn't thinking outside of the box on this to put it politely, and we need someone, and i think we will need someone well

as you all have mentioned italians have made a lasting contributions in building this city, and in making what it is, the city that is international, innovative and open. it's difficult to name names but let me mention angela rosy and judge misconnie and in city hall and in the hearts and minds of san franciscans. let me mention ap geny and found an important bank and the inventor what we call the micro credit and helped the city recover from the big earthquake of 1906. guy mo roller who was the founder, established the opera in san francisco, by the way there's an italian directing the opera and laurence fergetty and 93 and good friend of the community. he is the father of the b generations and the guy that started the culture revolution of the 60's and 70's so in many ways italians have made lasting contribution to this city and the silicon valley. there is an important engineer that developed the first micro prosser for intel, so it's a tremendous foundation to celebrate italian culture 2013. also i was reminded by our pastors that san francisco gets its name from an italian man and ho

there is a reason people want to be planners in this city. to that end, i actually -- i like the values statements. i like especially these top ones about collaboration, education, open dialogue. of course, we could administer, but i don't want to get into sort of wordsmithing -- not just word smithing, but sort of adding and focusing on which ones to include, which ones not to include. i think the mission statement is less successful because it called out these five bullet points in particular, i think that it's focused on these five bullet points only and is missing something. i don't know if it should be more of a reference to the code 101.1 items, or if it should be a reference to something else. but i think calling out design, calling out the environment, calling out our regional role, you know, you could name historic preservation, you could name equity, you could name inclusiveness, you could name affordableity. there's things you can put in there but i don't know that it have this long list. so i think there needs to be more work and
