the messenger: the mayor deblasio: the folks on the ground and the folks who protected this city, save the city to fight off one of the most difficult fauxes -- foes we have seen in our history, the coronavirus. our health care heroes saw us through those horrible months of march and april, dealing with an absolutely unprecedented challenge, our hospitals held, public hospitals did amazing work. all our hospitals around new york city, we honor the heroism, folks who had everything thrown at them but they held the line. they saved lives. then as we moved forward there was challenge after challenge. we didn't have enough p.p.e. in this city. we couldn't get p.p.e. from anywhere in the world. our federal government wasn't there for us. but we kept finding supplies anywhere we could. there were a lot of heroic efforts by new yorkers and the government and beyond. who made things happen, and we partnered with the private sector. with universities, with anyone who offered help to create p.p.e. here in new york city. whatever it took we created a whole pandemic response lab in this city. all
