let's begin now with nbc bay area's thom jensen along the russian river in guerneville. , what are you seeing right now? >> reporter: raj, we're in a neighborhood on mill street right now that is notorious for flooding. it seems like whenever the waters come up, these people get flooded here. many of the neighbors have been underwater here for two days now, and some of them say they've grown accustomed to this. the creek that runs along mill street and the russian river backed up and pushed floodwater into this low-lying neighborhood. neighbors have had to use flotation devices or boats to get themselves and their groceries and other goods into their homes. now they're being told the russian river could flood the entire area in deeper water late tonight or early in the morning. >> we're bracing for the worst, hoping for the best. that's all you can do when you live in a place like this. >> reporter: a lot of people from town have been going down to the johnson beach area near downtown where the russian river has already come over the bank and is flooding a park and picnic
