"today in the bay"'s thom jensen is live at the toll plaza in oakland. what is this going to mean for commuters? >> reporter: well, good morning to both of you. what that will mean is the tolls right ou on the bay bridge and other bridges are $7. that would be with the $1.50 increase, $8.50 at each of the toll gates here and all other bay area toll bridges, with the exception of golden gate bridge. more than 220,000 cars per day go through this bridge toll plaza on the bay bridge on average daily, so the rate hike would raise at least $330,000 daily just here. senator scott winer and josh becker are introducing a bill this afternoon. transit systems across the region face a $2.5 billion shortfall over the next five years and senate bill 532 will bring in nearly a billion over that time period. winer said losing the transit agencies would be devastating for the bay area. the increase would apply to the bay bridge, the san mateo bridge, the richmond bridge and dumbarton, carquinez, antioch bridges, all would have the $8.50 toll. we'll hear more from the pr
