nbc bay area's thom jensen is outside the superior courthouse. the 79 year old suspect was surrounded by family and friends in court today, and afterwards, her lawyer made some claims about how this happened, something we had not heard before. mary fong lao leaves the san francisco superior courtroom after pleading not guilty to four felony charges of vehicular manslaughter. this has been just a horrible and unspeakable tragedy. her lawyer says lao has been traumatized by the march 16th crash, when her 2014 mercedes glk suv smashed through a san francisco bus shelter, killing an entire family of four. the father and two year old son died at the scene. mom and their infant died later at the hospital. the district attorney charged lao with four felonies tuesday, accusing her of gross negligence. i feel that the charges are completely unsupported. i think it's unfortunate that san francisco pd jumped to conclusions and arrested miss lao, which then created this political spectacle that requires some sort of accountability. attorney sam geller says h

today in the bay's thom jensen live for us in daly city this morning., any word yet from bart about when those services will be restored? well, good morning to both of you. yeah, we've been reaching out to bart all weekend through the night. they did have some updates yesterday. nothing new this morning. we do have lines running here in daly city, but not the red line. still, this all of course, started saturday evening when there was a fire in an electrical room along the system in oakland that caused several stations to shut down on the red line and green lines. oakland firefighters put out the fire and helped evacuate about 300 people off of platforms, but the fire caused delays throughout sunday. saturday and continues to cause complete closures of the red line. bart use some bus shuttles for connections, but also ask riders to choose alternate routes. alternate transportation. while crews worked to repair damaged electrical systems. so that's what took so long to get service restored. but we did have service restored at fruitvale and lake merritt j

nbc bay area's thom jensen snagged a first look at those images. and, tom, you also talked to a top webb team scientist. what are they finding? kris incredible views of the universe with amazing detail. and we're seeing what actually happened out in the endless galactic frontier billions of years ago. that's how long it took for these the light from these cosmic events and entities to reach the lenses of the james webb, which has was launched on christmas in 2021. the telescope captured pictures of one object that is almost 14 billion light years from earth, a record these colorful pictures tell stories about how some of the earliest galaxies were formed, according to a nasa scientist who has been working on the project for years, doctor amber strahan says the newest images are two galaxies called the penguin and the egg, which are coming together. this pair of merging galaxies essentially, is they're getting so close that they're interacting with each other. so galaxies of course, are just groups of stars held together by gravity. and most of the

power outage today in the bay's thom jensen live for us in daly city this morning.think about it is it is a good thing because over the weekend the bart riders, they really had to scramble to get to where they needed to go. they really did. good morning marcus. yeah, bart had shuttles moving people around, and the red line service was shut down. so meaning a limited schedule. although by sunday morning, all stations were back up and open. by sunday morning after that, that fire saturday. and then earlier today, just in the last hour, we got an email from a bart spokesperson saying that the red line was open. all lines, all stations, now open fire. saturday evening in a system electrical room in oakland caused several stations to shut down on the red line and green lines. oakland firefighters put out the fire and helped evacuate about 300 people off the platforms, but the fire did cause delays through sunday and continues to cause a complete closure to the red line. until this morning, bart used some bus shuttles for connections, but also ask riders to choose alterna
