i'm joined by abc's chief justice correspondent pierre thomas here in the studio, but i want to begin with marcus moore who is on the scene by that walmart. good morning, marcus. >> reporter: jon, good morning. it is striking when you look at the parking lot in the distance behind me. that walmart parking lot full of cars, and this scene really is almost just as it was on saturday morning when police say 21-year-old patrick crusius opened fire on innocent people. we know this morning that there were between 1,000 and 3,000 people inside the store at the time and the first reports of the shooting came in at about 10:39 on saturday morning. police say the suspect walked up to the front of the store and continued aiming that gun at people and continued to shoot. this massacre went on for a whole six minutes before police arrived on the scene, and we know this morning that at least 20 people were killed and 26 others were hurt. crusius was taken into custody without incident and allegedly told police that he wanted to kill as many mexicans as possible. that's according to law enforcement officials speaking
