i'm thomas roberts. we'll get right to the headlines right now on "way too early." and hillary clinton's campaign was hoping to celebrate a big endorsement of the united autoworkerness, but instead a report concluded she violated the federal records act by not turning over all official e-mail before she left office and the report found there was no evidence she got approval to use the personal account for business. they took it in stride, it shows just how consistent her e-mail practices were with those of other secretaries and senior officials at the state department who used personal e-mail. but it was fodder for congressional republicans and her 2016 foes. now, a spokesman for bernie sanders said the i.g. report speaks for itself and donald trump, well he relished the story on the campaign trail. >> she had a little bad news as you know today from some reports that came down, weren't so good. but not so good. the inspector general's report, not good. but i want to run against hillary. it could be we're going to run against crazy bernie. that could be. could be. c

i'm thomas roberts. good to have you with me. last night, donald trump easily won the washington state primary pulling within 40 delegates of clinching the gop nomination. but that was overshadowed by a violent night in albuquerque. anti-donald trump protesters clashed with the police outside the presumptive gop nominee's rally in new mexico and some in the crowd waved mexican flags while others set fires and even more chanted obscenities marching through the streets. things really escalated when protesters threw rocks at the officers who used smoke canisters and what appeared to be pepper spray to disperse the crowds. the albuquerque police department said several were treated for injuries from being hit by rocks and at least one person was arrested. trump had reportedly left the area by the time the clashes escalated. on his way to l.a., where he will hold a major fund-raiser. but it was inside the albuquerque convention center protesters sporadically interrupted the event to hear his respond to attacks in 2006 when he said tha

we're back with john heilemann, mike barnacle and thomas roberts joins us as well at the table. down with a group of democratic voters in california. what did you find out from these women? >> well, i found out that it's going to take a bit of work to bring the democratic party together, if there are any indication. we wanted to talk to young women. nbc did an analysis of the exit polls in the contests held so far. bernie sanders with women under 30 beats hillary clinton 68-31 percent. voters she's going to need if she's going to beat donald trump in the general election. for them, their lives are at stake. that's how they put it to me. they have college loans. they are starting young families. the makeup of this group we talked to, two bernie sanders supporters, two hillary clinton supporters. and we're going to start with the one undecided voter. she's a veteran of the air force. served her country for six years. now works for veterans. and a lot of the passion in this conversation came when we talked about the inspector general's report on hillary clinton and the e-mail serve

msnbc's thomas roberts also joins the table. how far will he go?er than you probably thought before is the answer. this is a guy if you talked to him before he announced his campaign was incredibly focused on issues, elevating the conversation. if you talk to him now, he's incredibly angry. he's been personally affected by some of the shots clinton has taken at him. he also sees himself closer than ever before to his life's work, which is elevating this ideological crusade. his message never changed since he was 22 years old. now he's getting these giant crowds and he's not going to back down. the thing to remember about bernie sanders, he's never been a democrat. his interests have never been with the democratic party. it's a very different calculation than for hillary clinton in 2008. she was furious at barack obama but had an allegiance to the party he doesn't have. >> he's not. he's an independent. i'm not saying that as a negative. >> look at his voting record. >> right. but he's not a member of the democratic party. i'm not being snippy. it's
