joining us for a first interview is thomas ryan, president and ceo of cvs/caremark. good to see you again, mr. ryan. >> good to see you. >> you've got two different businesses, the retail part and the pharmacy benefits part. start first with the retail. what can you tell us about the state of the consumer, the understanding of the kind of products you sell should be a little less sensitive to the recession. >> right. well, 70% of our business on the retail side is in the pharmacy and in prescription side of the business. so that's holding up as i said, people were splitting prescriptions and stretching it but now actually taking their medication and we're doing a lot of work to make sure they stay adherent. on the front end of our business, you saw our front end comps were up 3%. we're seeing less traffic, but we're seeing higher rings from the people who do come in. and they're really focused on buying more promotional items and private label items and smaller sizes. they're trying to stretch their dollar. in fact, we're not promoting any more. we have a higher perc

fox 5 news will thomas has more. >> reporter: ryan still a very active crime scene out here, the technicians, detectives all out here. it is called the pizza mart on fourthth street northeast, right on rhode island avenue. it is owned by two brothers. one showed up early, no sign of the other brother who was supposed to be here. later he called the police to get inside because he didn't have a spare and wondered if something was wrong and he was right. when police made it inside, they found the victim's body just identified by police as a man from silver springs. they told the police there were signs of trauma, but wouldn't talk about it. the brothers are ready to call it quits here we have been told. they were trying to sell for a year now. they have seen thefts, fighting, they posted video of anybody they didn't want inside the store. you can see the photos in the front window. >> we get a lot of disorderly calls to the corner of fourth and rhode island as well as fourth and adam. largely due to that being a 24- hour store. a lot of people tend to hang out there and get calls of that natur
