conservative columnist thomas sowell is retiring.l column three days ago and in it he noted how much has changed in politics, especially citizens trust in the government. joining us is the author of "well, policy and politics" and from stanford university, thomas sowell. what a pleasure and honor to be able to interview you, sir. thank you so much for all of the incredible work you have done, your incredible writing for this country. >> thank you very much for having me. >> so i really enjoy your work, as do millions of americans an people across the world. what do you think has really changed in terms of american politics as we see it today? >> i think government has forfeited a great deal of trust on the part of the public. i still remember when john f. kennedy took this country to the brink of nuclear war with the soviet union. he had just been elected narrowly, been in office two years, and, you know, we trusted what he said. he said that they had to get those missiles out of cuba and so on, and we knew he was the president and h

vonnie: thank you very much, thomas sowell.to the most famous nintendo game and will talk to the cofounder. this is bloomberg. ♪ david: this is bloomberg markets. vonnie: let's go over to julie hyman with the chart of the day. julie: i'm talking about the bond market, the treasury market in the wake of the fed saying we could see three interest rate hikes next year. it got a mixed reaction in bonds today. yesterday we saw yields rise and the selloff continue. the selloff continued on the shorter end of the curve. we are seeing buying on the long end of the curve and the yield on the 30 year going down by three basis points and this perhaps reflects at least some level about whether the fed will stick to three interest rate increases next year. plot in the past is been revised lower. we have been talking about the treasury selloff that has been occurring. this is the u.s. aggregate index year to date. we are pretty much unchanged, only up 45/10 of 1%. /10 of 1%. strategists including folks at black rock and hsbc and pimco are sa
