long island reporter kristen thorn is live in bridgehampton with more. kristen? >> reporter: yes. her mother, anna pump, was in the prime of her elder year, emergencyic, creative and love -- energetic, creative and loved living life everyday. she was hit and killed by a man on the montauk highway driving without a license. that is, in fact, the only thing he is being charged with and now anna kemp says the laws must be changed. the law must change. >> reporter: yes. her mother was a ball of energy, evens at 81 years old she walked two miles everyday and graciously met guests at her inn in bridgehampton and at the shop next door. >> she loved standing in the store, greeting everyone. >> reporter: on october 5th she was walking in the crosswalk across montauk highway in bridgehampton when she was hit and killed by a car. >> it is pretty terrible. we miss her so much. >> reporter: the driver of that car, louise ortega, was charged were driving without a license, a misdemeanor that only comes with a small fine. >> i think it is not safe, and to have people like that putting themselves

eyewitness news reporter kristin thorne is live in richmond hill outside the church. kristin? >> reporter: well, shirleen, that's because holy child jesus church here is a safe haven. but under new york state law, an abandoned child must be physically handed over to a person at the safe haven and simply that's not what happened here. this is surveillance video we just got into eyewitness news. it was taken from a 99-cent store up the block from this church. it shows a woman buying a towel. the manager there told me that this woman bought a towel and police are very interested in speaking with this woman to see if she is the person who left this child behind. meanwhile, i spoke with two parishioners who were two of the first to respond to this child. they're just glad everything turned out okay. we're now hearing from the woman in this picture, regina san toro. she's a parishioner at the church and was in the reactsry office when the custodian called frantically. having just found the baby boy lying in the nativity scene inside the church. >> we went over there and there was ju

long island reporter kristin thorne is live in south hampton with this exclusive. kristin? >> reporter: dave, carlos aucapina remained quiet about his wife's disappearance until now. he says everyone has been pointing the finger at him with it. he says he absolutely had nothing to do with his wife's disappearance. he spoke with me exclusively at his attorney's office here in south hampton just a short time ago. he says his wife of 21 years, lilia aucapina had obtained an order of protection against him just a few days before she disappeared. that order of protection allowed him to see her, allowed him to go to their house, he just was not allowed to spend the night there. lilia aucapina 40 years old, mother of two, last seen saturday, october 10th at 9:30 in the morning in east hampton. there was an intense search to try to find her. i mean we're talking k-9 units and aviation units that began about 12 hours after she was last seen and continued for several days. her car was found in her driveway with her purse in it. but her cell phone missing. aucapina believes she is ali
