how big is the toyota operation in tianjin?as three really big production operations. this is the biggest of those three. last year, the company for the first time sold over a million vehicles in china. and this operation had 440,000 vehicles produced. so a substantial portion of toyotas business in china comes from this production hub. at this point,d, the company has said at least three days the production will be down. they did not lose any production last week week as the company was on holiday. the expectation from the company is that the losses will be contained to those three days. as you can see from these pictures, the amount of damage was incredibly significant. and it remains to be seen whether the company will have trouble getting parts supply through the ports. as long as the port is down, whether there is any impact supply -- impact to the suppliers and may prevent toyota assembly operations from going down. there are still some questions to be answered in terms of whether or not they company can resume production

cnn's will ripley is in tianjin for us this morning.ill. >> reporter: christine, for the first time, we are allowed inside the blast zone. we are on an overpass. i'll show you this is one of the main roads in tianjin. you can see as we scan over here all of those structures. many residential buildings that were some under construction and some occupied at the time of the explosion which has created utter devastation to the area. look at this parking lot. full of thousands of cars. most of them incinerated. many of them hot to the touch days after the explosion. you can see what's left of the chemical warehouse that was holding all of those shipping containers you see piled off in the distance like toys. there are questions asked here. this site here at the center of a criminal investigation where days later smoke continues to rise. you can see it off in the distance. crews are continuing to search for the dozens of people still missing. it is presumed they did not survive. china has had its share of industrial accidents over the years.
