tihdi would make that determination. >> the planning department would make the determinations for non trust land. it would seem the historic commission would have some role in that. >> under the new trust properties, as it is currently envisioned, the historic preservation commission would not have a formal role. we have followed the procedures that the port follows on trust property. certainly, the historic preservation commission could ask for a hearing, and i think we would be amenable to requiring -- supervisor mar: how would we involve the historic preservation commission to work with planning staff on issues related to historic resources on the island? >> currently, most of the historic analysis concerning historic projects in san francisco is done by the planning department. the historic preservation commission is only involved in those instances where the charter spells out a specific involvement. right now on treasure island or your balbuena -- or yerba buena, there is no jurisdiction that would be triggered. we would rely on the planning department and their historic experts

i sit on the tihdi board and the good neighbors board as well. we support this plan. i have brought a client of our program here to speak to you briefly about her experience living on the island. thank you very much. >> i have lived on treasure island for nine years, and before that, i was homeless for 13 years on the streets of san francisco, doing drugs, and i got clean and sober, and once i was clean, i needed housing. housing on treasure island save my life, me and my young son. to cut any funding for any housing for any homeless program should not be done. thank you. >> good afternoon, supervisors. i am with the laborers' union, and i would like to express our overwhelming enthusiasm for this project moving forward. i would also like to thank supervisors chu for being there from the beginning, but in particular, we want to recognize supervisor kim for being there where it counted, and the very opportunity to increase the amount of housing. while we're not going to say that it would be criminal to move this project forward at 25%, we do think that was a heavy lift

we participate in the tihdi jobs brookridge program. we have had 60 island residents is through this program since we have implemented it, and we just provide jobs for real people who live on the island, and we think it is a very successful program, and we encourage you to support it because we only see it growing as the economic project grows. we're just urging you for your support. thank you. >> good afternoon. walden house has worked in partnership with the treasure island homeless development initiative for the past nine years, providing a list of services to women and children. services we provide include vocational and educational opportunities, assistance, housing and family reunification. due in part to the privilege of our location, we have excellent outcomes and low recidivism rates, and you have had the opportunity to hear from some of our success stories today. we urge you to support this moving forward with the project, providing helping and treatment opportunities to current and future residents of the island. thank you. >
