tim dickinson joins us from san francisco.ite about a gun industry that appears to be in panic mode despite an estimated $1.5 billion in sales last year. why would they need to market to children as young as first grade? can you explain that to us, tim? >> the industry is -- has disrupted to a certain extent. the market for traditional hunting guns has fallen off a cliff and the traditional consumer base is sort of like the gop. it's too white, too old, too southern, too male, and so you have both of these trends, and so they're trying to pump up their sales by marketing both lethal weapons to sort of try and sell one last shiny new object to this older generation, but they're also needing to find replacement shooters to borrow a phrase from the tobacco industry, and they are aggressively marketing both to women, to children, to young men who are hooked on video games, trying to break into unconventional demographics. >> tim, we're watching a 10-year-old girl shooting at zombie targets. turns out you can pick from a variety of

tim is in the outback. tim has a look at the rainfall amounts we've had so far this year. tim? >> we talk about how these storms have come through, one after the other. they come through every few days. it's hard to keep track at times of how much snowfall has come down. actually, snowfall has not been the issue. but in the accumulation of snow and rain, the total combination of the two, we have seen, since the beginning of the year, just around 4 1/2 inches. 4.63 inches of total precipitation. that's recorded at bwi marshall. the normal is 4.48. so while it has not all been snow, has not all been rain. we are above precipitation by about .15 for the year so far. this is one of those years where you'll look up and we'll say we've had a foot of snow. but it will come through one inch at a time, in 12 different storms. we'll keep you posted. for right now, bob will have your complete first warning forecast ahead, coming up in a few moments. for now, back inside. >> tim, thank you. >>> the disabled carnival cruise ship triumph is being towed back to port. here's a live picture. cr

meteorologist bernadette woods and tim williams are tracking live doppler radar.ll talk to bern in a sec. but we'll start inside with tim. >> good afternoon, mary. good afternoon, everyone. there are different pieces to this storm. and part of it is the moisture. and part of it is how dry the air has been. what we have been watching is this system here. a low, you see, progressing across the state. moving in all through the morning. and now, as the afternoon has progressed, it is making its way across the area. but what we're also seeing is that the air has been dry enough that it has pretty much hindered the amount of moisture that has been allowed to get down to the ground. bernadette will talk about that here in a second. the dew point has a lot to do with that. but let's talk about the winter weather advisory. still, because of the temperatures dropping through the evening, we have a winter weather advisory in the higher elevations of garrett county. that's through 1:00 in the western edge of allegheny county. and cecil county through 3:00. that goes into effe

tim? >> when i look at the world that's breaking out, the one world that's broken out dramatically is japan. if you look at what came out of the g-20, no, they didn't get their wrist slapped, but what you really got is lack of coordination between the ministry of finance and the abe economics. so, the end is way oversold, meaning it is going to run into resistance at 95. i would be a seller of the yen. the way you can do that is simply, you can sell the ewj. there are etfs out there that are two times short the yen and that is something you take a look at here. the yeb is way oversold. it will probably be going on a weakening trend and i would say, stop yourself at 95, if it breaks that, it's going to 100. japan's been a very big trade for some of the biggest funds in the world. i think it's some what long in the tooth technically. >> now that we've gone through the individual trades. but i think it is key here to just, for a minute, pause and take an assessment of where we are right now b

we have a plethora of topics to get to with trader tim biggam. he joins us now for a look at the charts. good morning to you. let's start with coca-cola. the company is raising its dividend by 10%. i know this is a stock that you have liked in your portfolio. would you buy more at these levels? > > absolutely. i think stocks like coca-cola that have a yield approaching the 30-year treasury and combine that with some pretty good and solid revenue and earnings growth, lower beta names, so a place to maybe hunker down short-term in market turmoil. i like just adding these on weakness. we have seen some weakness recently in coke shares, so i would absolutely be a buyer, and would continue to be a buyer on dips going forward in coca-cola and similar names. > what about the overall market? you tend to be more bearish than bullish. where do you stand? > > right here, given the pullback we have finally seen over the past couple days here, it has come down a little bit. i still think we have a little bit further to go, probably below that 1500 level on th
