i spoke to tim duncan earlier. >> tim, you just got back from st. john.ing what you saw there. how bad was it? >> it's the island is pretty megsd up. lots of trees and debris. lots of homes without roofs and a lot of them just totally blown away. so a lot of destruction over there, but a lot of people out and working to cleanup everything. a lot of guys with very -- people with very positive attitudes ready to start the rebuilding process. >> in terms of supplies that are getting in, did you see supplies coming to st. john? did you see people on the ground from the federal government? from local authorities? both in st. john and saint thomas? >> yeah. yeah. there's been a lot of support especially now. helped unload a bunch of supplies from boats. there's a lot of support here from fema and we see the soldiers all around the place. so it's starting to get here. >> what do you want people to know about the situation there? you've been raising money really since this storm. i know you grew up on st. croix and st. croix, thankfully was largely spared. what i

tim duncan is probably known as one of the best power forwards who is a native of st. croix. he's been doing relief work in the wake of hurricane irma. and now this. >> tirjs have you been able to speak to anyone on st. croix getting how much damage was done to the island? >> not on st. croix. i have friends in st. thomas i've been in touch with, and they have heard from a couple people. the last i heard was last night late when the storm was really hitting the island. i heard from a couple of people who would have lost their roofs on their house, and they had moved from upstairs to downstairs and then they started losing rooms from their house. >> you as a kid lived through a hurricane that hit st. croix. can you tell me about what that experience was like for you? >> i lived through hurricane hugo. it was a cat 5 hurricane, the same as the last two that went through virgin islands. it came at night. kind of like maria did last night. so for the most part we had everybody inside. >> how old were you? >> i was 13. >> and that experience is kind of one of your motivations for
