i am speaking in support of tim eicher. tim has worked with the neighbors.rage to neighbors for issues about the parking lot and noise. he has done this on his own. tim has been willing to help the neighbors and work with the neighbors to the point of the other nights coming over to a random meeting of neighbors that were talking about issues in the neighborhood. tim showed up and said, what can i do? i find him accessible and have worked with him on the board of evna and find him helpful and it would be a great choice for the commission. supervisor campos: thank you -- supervisor kim: thank you. >> i am the board president of the apa families services and active in a number of organizations. i strongly support steven lee. i have known him for 30 years as an intrapreneur with it can do attitude. he works well with many groups and very generous to nonprofit organizations. the events held in his club are well-managed and enjoyable. i must appreciate -- most appreciate him on a personal level for providing young people with leadership as he did for me 30 years

i actually met with tim eicher on the request of supervisor wiener and i was very impressed with mr. eicher and i found him a really great person who's done a lot of great work in the castro and owns several businesses, some outside of san francisco asle. he runs castro after dark. i know he comes with strong expertise. but i also had, later, -- i did not make a commitment to mr. eicher because i wanted to look at other commissioners as well. i see that lee's wealth of experience extends for decades and as someone that's been a performer, entertainer and someone who has organized events and done a lot of work like mr. eicher has in fundraising and working with community groups, i felt that his experience was somewhat superior, especially looking at the entertainment industry as one of the economic engines we have in this city. and that's something that i want to be able to see that we can have good voices on the entertainment commission. i know mr. eicher would help with that too but i felt that steven lee by experience would make him somewhat better. but i find it troubling and diffi

motion appointing tim eicher term ending july 1, 2014, to the entertainment commission. supervisor mar: thank you, president chiu. i really represent the work of mr. eicher but i wanted to make a motion that we consider steven lee as our appointment. steven lee has been a 34-year experienced industry professional. i've known of his work sips my days at san francisco state -- since my days at san francisco state where he organized many of the different concerts and dances throughout the communities. he's done a tremendous job reworking the former historic gay disco and sister club to studio 54 on this west coast and transformed it into 1998-1999 into the glass cat which i know has had its ups and downs but i think he's worked through the industry with great experience. again, 4 years. also food and bev ranl -- 34 years. also, food and beverage experience. construction founding and operating different clubs and entertainment organizations. he's also been the former manager of a number of performers like the jets. those of you that may have grown up in the 1980's know a num

now tim eicher. same format as with mr. tan.eak about your experience and the things you hope to work on on the entertainment commission as well. >> good afternoon. a move to san francisco in 1989. i own three bars in the castro and one along the russian river. when i got the first bar in the castro one of the first things i did was to join in the eureka valley neighborhood association. i did that because i wanted to be in this business for the long term and i felt like the long term success of the bar depended on the understanding of the neighborhood concerns and being able to proactively resolve issues before they get out of control and become huge issues. i tried hard with all the bars to make sure they are responsible members of the community and trying to do good and involve the neighborhood. so, i am also on the board right now. i helped former castro after dark which is a coalition of nighttime businesses in the castro. with castro after dark i took the lead on crime reduction issues. i do not know how many people are awa

i am here to support tim eicher. i have known tim for over 20 years. we worked together in oracle, a technology background. i am one of his partners in two of the bars that we own together in the castro. in terms of that, working with tim at the bars, one of the things i would emphasize he spoke to is his ability to work together with a lot of different views. in terms of problem-solving not just talking about the problem, but coming to the solution, one of the areas that he has taken to is the parking lot that exists across the street from one of our forests. it is not monitored and often a source of ne'er-do-wells that come to be blamed on our patrons. we have used our security to manage it but working with supervisor wiener and other business groups, tim has been critical in moving forward and getting that area monitored by patrol special police force as well as working toward getting a gate installed to have it closed at one in which has prevented and reduced the number of neighbor complains in the area. it is this type of action that tim brings to
