here's tim johns. reporter: the temperatures were in the triple digits when we arrived at the alameda county fair earlier today. a lot of the people we talked to said they had a plan to stay cool and they wouldn't let the heat ruin their holiday weekend. it was a busy friday night at the alameda county fair. people coming out from all over the bay area to start their fourth of july weekend. >> we come to the fair every year. it's been a family tradition. my grandmother always brought us. reporter: the heatwave is supposed to last for several days. >> it's a lot. first heatwave of the summer and it's intense. reporter: people won't let the rising temperatures stop them from having fun. many of the water rides were packed. some choosing to go on more than once. >> at least 10. reporter: they were only one draw friday night though. after the sunset, there was a firework and drum show, the biggest one that organizers have ever done. >> last year, it was 100 drones. reporter: the fireworks bring out crowds
