my name is tim mckenna, the police chief here in chardon. i wrote down bullet points because i wanted to make this clear as possible. the update with our investigation, multiple agencies, both federal, state and local worked late into the evening and early hours this morning trying to tie up all the loose ends. it is sad to say at this point i am going to announce the second student, russell king, has passed. at 4:49 this morning the medical exam her's office contacted me advise me of that. and i feel sorry not only for that family but all the families that are affected by this. the prosecutor's office was brought up to speed last evening and is preparing for a 3:30 hearing this afternoon in the juvenile court in geauga county upon the courthouse. for legal reasons i will not discuss nor release the name of the person that's been brought in front of the judge this afternoon. once that's taken place we'll be able to talk more about it. at this time i can not provide you a motive for this. i'm hoping that after the hearing this afternoon that

and i'll introduce our tim mckenna. >> tim mckenna at 0738 first call came into station. shots were fired at chardon high school. the units that were on and numerous other law enforcement responded to the scene. information received on my arrival was that the shooter had left the building. at that point, our team went right in the door to evaluate and emf got in. i want to assure the community we are safe. we have done diligent work up to this point and that work is not done. i do want to give the news media an update. currently we have one deceased student. it's dan parmertor. >> the two other students that were life flight to cleveland metro are in critical. two students that were ground transported to the trauma center to the cleveland clinic, one stable and one serious. no names. he a juvenile and that is adjudicated in a proper court. no name released on that. that is all i have to say at this time. my deep heart goes out to the families of the five victims, not only to them but the whole community. the investigation is going to be very long. i thank you. >>> there h

at this time, i'm going to introduce chief tim mckenna, chardon police department. chief? e is tim mckenya, police chief here in chardon just to give you an overall view of what happened, at 7:38 this morning we got numerous calls to our dispatch center advising we had multiple gun shots fired at chardon high school, 151 chardon avenue. our units responded, mutually responded with the sheriff's department, state patrol, a lot of other agencies which i will mention at later time, but tremendous arrival time. we got there, we're given notification by the dispatcher that one of the teachers happened to chase the shooting suspect out of the building, immediately at that point, our officers entered the building, went to the five injured students, and got ems in there right behind the door behind them, then made sure the building was safe for the paramedics and the firemen to go in the door. with that done, we started searching the areas, and shortly thereafter, we came up with the suspect. he is in custody. no name will be released because he hasn't been charged yet. he is a juv
