congresswoman, before we get to your legislation, i do want to ask you, do you agree with tim ryan, nancyaul ryan that congressman conyers should step down? >> yes, absolutely. this kind of behavior of objectifying women and disrespecting them in such an incredible way is unacceptable. we should have a zero tolerance towards this kind of behavior, and he should resign. >> how would your legislation stop the culture of sexual harassment and assault? and also secrecy when it comes to the sexual harassment and the problem on capitol hill? >> our bill goes directly to the heart of the problem that has allowed this to perpetuate for so long behind closed doors and, you know, dark curtains. the fact that this process has allowed members of congress and their staffers to settle claims for things like sexual harassment and assault using tax payer dollars and without anyone knowing about it is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. our bill not only changes this process for the future, making it so that members of congress or staffers who have this predatory behavior, they will be held personally

joining me now to talk about this is congressman tim ryan of ohio. you were also in that meeting.sexual harassment was not being dealt with seriously. is that the case? >> well, there was a conversation towards the end of the caucus meeting on sexual harassment generally, but i think i share her frustration, congresswoman rice's frustration that this is not happening quick enough. we are not addressing this issue fast enough. some resolution that we're going to pass today is not going to adequately address this issue. we need to make sure we're setting the example here in the united states congress, and that means we need the resources and training and transparency, partnering with what our colleague, jackie speier is doing from california to open up this process, to reform this process. i certainly do share her frustration. we need to get moving on this and set the example for the rest of the country. >> does that mean that john conyers needs to step down from congress? >> well, he still gets his due process. and i want that to be expedited as well. we need to get through this im
