tim williams has more on what we could see this afternoon. first, mike hellgren has the latest on the cleanup from last night's strong storms. good afternoon, mike. >> reporter: it's still underway. things are calm now. you can see the after math. this is a tree that toppled over on a fence. there are still downed wires and the red cross is assisting about two dozen families. >> reporter: a powerful storm left 30,000 without power. downed trees scraped the pavement. >> it was windy. it got pretty loud. the next thing you know, there was a bunch of commotion. we heard this racket and ruckus. >> reporter: the wicked weather damaged vehicles. >> we came back to get the truck and there was a tree on top of it. >> reporter: you could see a clearer picture of the after math. more trees down and vivid eyewitness accounts of the storm. >> it was nice and sunny, then it was windy and dark. >> reporter: there was a water rescue and no lives were lost. it was small hail and then it went up to the size of a quarter. the streets flooded up and cars floate

marty bass and tim williams in the weather center. good afternoon, tim. >>> well, good afternoon, don. it's a good afternoon, weatherwise. i don't know how you can expect to have better than this. we're looking at temperatures around the region at 80 degrees. 83 hagerstown and 84 at bwi and 81 in elkton. cooler temperatures in the highier elevations. looking down at the shore, ocean city at 81 degrees. dew points are low and that creates a low relative humidity. it's comfortable out there. the winds continuing from the northwest. that's going to change as we head into the long holiday weekend. for more on how it plays out we'll send it to marty. >> reporter: happy new month to you all. there's a big dome of high pressure giving it this bermuda high. it's slipping from the northwest and out of the south east. where's the air coming from. it's wrapping around the high. that will expand the heat in the south. that's up towards the 95 corridor. as a matter of fact, the graphic says blazing hot saturday. we're going to take the temperatures

let's go right to bob turk and meteorologist tim williams, tracking it all in first warning weather. bob? >> we've seen some very heavy storms last night. some areas getting 3, 3 1/2 inches of rain. some areas a lot less. but right now, a general heavier rain moving into the region. take a look at the red light frontal boundary. generally moving across country, maryland. one little heavy hiccup near perry hall. south of the city, you see some heavy showers showers and thunderstorms moving into howard county and a.a. county. from parkton to liberty county, heavy shower activity. downpours all over the place, where you can see there's very, very bright colors. that's where we're seeing quick half-inch to 1-inch rain. there could be flash flood warnings. tim williams joins me now with a whole look at a lot of watches and warnings. >> definitely, our watch and warning map has been very, very colorful because there have been a lot coming and going. but we can break it down for you. there is a flash flood watch in effect, as well as a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 9:00 tonight

meteorologist tim williams and bob turk are updating the forecast, and tracking first warning live doppler radar. >>> some folks are getting heavy downpours and lightning and thunder. south of the city. very quiet. take a look at radar. that flash flood warning in effect until 8:15. up in harford county. a couple of drenching thunderstorm cells are moving through the region. it's moving out of the area. you can see down toward abingdon. that is moving in your general direction. another cell was developed just east of the city. in downtown baltimore. dundalk, essex. right along the i-95, route 40 corridor, makes moving off to the east/northeast. again, towards southern harford county. there's still activity out there in some areas. to the west of us, we had a flash flood warning. the storm has moved out of the region. as you can see, we had one cell here. the rest of the activity in west virginia. for the next few hours, still a risk of thunderstorm activity. some can produce very heavy downpours. we have been tracking that for you. tim has a look at the advisories. also, tomorrow, could cr
