meteorologist tim williams in the weather center with the latest. good afternoon. >> no winds after major concern at this point. after the 11:00 updates in the national hurricane center is tropical winds moving at the north, north east at 15 miles per hour. it's expected to start making its way on to land and that will take the potency down. it will be reemerging from the land back to the carolinas and virginia south of maryland and off of the shores. that is where we're expecting to make land fall and reemerge into the ocean. we can continue to keep you posted. we can expect the rain to be moving in as a result of andrea. marty we'll have more coming up. >> lawmakers are meeting at the state house. >> federal state and city officials are investigating the collapse if philadelphia -- in philadelphia. a survivor was found late last night. >> a 61-year-old woman was found overnight after about 13 hours of being buried alive. >> at least 6 people were killed. officials still don't know how many people were inside the store on on the sidewalk when debri

i'm gigi barnett. >> and i'm tim williams. it's cloudy, a little humid, but pretty dry start to the day so far. >> no washout on dad state. >> it's not produce day of the weekend. yesterday was a gorgeous day. maybe cats weekend overall has been pretty nice. yesterday was really nice. if you have things on the grill, on the deck. the day was a nice one. sunshine and blue skies. write no more cloud cover than anything. we did have a few peaks of sun early on. right now, as you see, there's rain moving in from the west. most of it except for a real brief blip moving across washington county, is still out to the west. moving into the west virginia area. it's a few hours before gets here, but the temperatures are going to continue to rise because of a southwest wind. right now 65 degrees at bwi marshall, 57 oakland, 74 on the shore. daytime high today in the mid-80s, but expect that there could be a chance of a shower through the afternoon. the earliest part right around 2:00 or 3:00 just after the early afternoon start. then the

>>> meteorologist tim williams and bob turk with more on anrea and where it is now and where it's headed. >> it came on shore about 4:00 around cedar key area about 150 miles north of tampa. take a look at this spin. you see the heaviest rain now across southern georgia, savannah approaching charleston down toward miami. all that is going to move up the east coast over the next 24 hours. take a look at the satellite imagery, the last one we had moving now across from central florida, northern florida, headed toward the north eastern sections of georgia and south carolina. that's all moving up to the north-northeast. tim is in the outback. and they are headed off to the east as you can see. so we're not concerned about any real wind issues here but we are concerned about rain. take a -- let's take a look that the, tim. >> reporter: the two components we're looking at is the rain coming from the west. tomorrow into saturday we'll start to see the sun pulling in the remnants of andrea as it starts to make the way up the eastern seaboard. what we're going to be watching is flooding. flood wa

meteorologist tim williams and bob turk are tracking where andrea is now and the impact on maryland. >>> take a look at radar, pretty nice display here for maryland. there's plenty of rain on the radar and most of the activity going on across portions of florida is beginning to move now into georgia and carolinas. that's the tropical moisture that will continue to flow in the next 24 hours. we expect to see the heaviest rain across our region. look at the satellite picture. if you see the storm moving to the north and northeast, eventually it will head out. it's moving quickly. by the time it gets to the region, right now it's moving around 17 miles per hour. the pressure dropped a little bit, but it's going to start weakening tonight if it's coming ashore in northern florida, and it will continue to bring rain, however, to our region. that's the major issue we're looking at. the spaghetti models have it going generally across portions of north carolina and eventually, eventually southeast and that's where we're going to see the heaviest rain tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. wi

meteorologist tim williams is tracking this storm and the updated path on its potential impact on maryland. tim. >>> well, mary, you know this storm is of course the first named storm of the year. let's go to it and give you an idea. our satellite imagery shows this is 55 miles south, southwest of cedar key florida, and it's being pulled up and across the east coast. right on up the the coastline. as of the 2:00 update, it is a tropical storm, winds at 60 miles per hour sustained. the movement is to the northeast at 17 miles per hour. the pressure has dropped just a little bit, and as we know, the pressure dropping is an indication that the storm is strengthening. the models bring it up the coastline right up through georgia, the the carolinas and eventually back into the waters of virginia, norfolk, south of maryland and it will head to the waters and up into the north atlantic. we're going to see the moisture moving into the region over the next 24 to 48 hours and we'll keep you posted on what that's going to mean for maryland in just a few minutes. >>> and stay with wjz for first warnin

but tim williams is up first with the weather forecast. >> good afternoon, everyone. it is a gorgeous day, as mary mentioned. we've had these days just a little below the average, which is now normal, 80 degrees. light winds and a lot of sunshine. it's just been a delightful stretch. and it's going to be coming coming to an end here very soon. we're at 70 degrees now at bwi marshall. 67 with the influence of the water on the shore. 77 in elkton. 70 in oakland. and a dew point of 45, keeping the air pretty dry, as we move into this afternoon. we do have that pit of a marine influence. more humidity. but the cooler air coming in off the water. that's what is keeping that temperature down off the shore, at 67. but what you see ought to the west, well, that is a front moving in our general direction. while we have clear skies right now, look at what is down to our south. that is going to start pulling in some of this rain and moisture. it's going to start pulling it off the coastline. help to facilitate showers as we move on through the afternoon and through thursday. par

meteorologist tim williams is outside and enjoying the sunshine. we start, though, first with the first warning weather center with bob. >> all right. let's look at temps around the area. beautiful afternoon. dry. that same weather we had yesterday, continues a little longer. 78 now. so far, that's the highest i've seen today. 66 in ocean city. now, tomorrow, a little more humid as the winds begin to come off the atlantic ocean. we'll have some showers north of us, southwest of us and south of us. and that's where our next weather maker is coming from. in fact, tim has word now on the first tropical storm of the season. just named a few minutes ago. tim? >> reporter: well, as bob mentioned, five days into the atlantic hurricane season, and we already have our first named system. this is tropical storm andrea, which is down just around -- east central gulf of mexico, we should say, just around 310 miles southwest of tampa. what you're seeing there is a lot of that moisture there, associated with that storm system. it is expected, as it it currently
