so what does the nypd do to protect, say times square, from vehicle attacks? >> well, times square is something we call, what, a target rich environment, right? due to the amount of numerous individuals that come to visit, not only locally from all over the world. it's attractive to someone who is willing to commit a lone wolf attack or some sort of terrorist incident. we start from the outer ring almost to enter. we have officers stationed all throughout the world to get realtime information when it comes to any leads or any information regarding possible terrorist attack. we also have our intelligence division. we have officers assigned to the joint terrorist task force. and at the end of the day, we have specialized officers that have anti-terrorism training, you know, bomb recognition. i was one of those officers. i was assigned to the convention at one time. we had to go to bomb school for almost a week just in the recognition of these types of improvised explosive devices. but what we have here right now is a large crime scene which people don't realize.
