here's tisha thompson. >> reporter: clip in and take the leap.ut the thrill of zip lining comes with some risk. in the last year accidents in tennessee, south carolina, hawaii and at least a half dozen in our area, according to government reports. but don't jump to the conclusion the government is keeping track. unlike amusement parks or other adventure sports with heavy government oversight, the news4 i-team discovered zip line companies are mostly self-regulated. we visited four popular attractions in the d.c. area, and found standards vary from state to state. at river riders in west virginia, we get a safety briefing. a full-body harness, two zip line clips and a helmet. at tar a pin adventure in maryland, one clip for this single zip. but no helmets at all at adventure park at sandy spring. we do get a very detailed 30-minute orientation before the self-guided tour. >> once you clip in once, you'll be locked onto the cable throughout the entire course. >> reporter: and at bryce resort in virginia, the only place guides left us unhooked at ti
