so i cover tj maxx and ross and burlington. i think they'll do well in this environment. but right now i'm starting to study the the student loan payments record occurring in the back half of this year. i think that that's just another thing to worry about a little bit overall, though, inflation easing is really good news. we've had wages come in ahead of inflation just a couple of data points, but we'll take what we can get. i cover costco as well and they've said that inflation has been less sequentially every month this year. that's the metric i'm really watching to see trend down and maybe even reverse to keep consumer shopping. do you expect a recession? and the reason i ask is that a lot of times when we get a recession, analysts will say that consumers step down to a tjmaxx, you know, or from a target to a walmart is kind of the narrative we're hearing this week. i think that it's not off the table. the fed will decide whether we go into a recession or not. are our positioning is that you need to be defensive in case don't see a recession today in consumer stocks o

target walmart and tj maxx are among the other big retail reporting this week. now as the opening bell rang this morning, overall retail sales in the us for july came in better than expected, but the major market indexes dropped as the bell rang on concerns about the global economy. that's after disappointing reports out of china on their retail sales and industrial production there in china. taking a live look at the big board this morning. still down. it's maintained that same level throughout the morning, about three quarters of a percent loss for the dow, a little bit more for the s&p 500 in terms of percentage, the nasdaq down just a little bit more than a half of a percent. still below that 14,000 level by a bit, 13,006 97. tesla's launching cheaper versions of its model s and x as competition heats up for the electric vehicles, the lower cost versions of both cars are about $10,000 less than the regular model. the new shorter range model s and x will start at a little more than 78 and $88,000. a nevada based tech company is now bringing technology used in
