tobin smith. jonas max ferris, along with bob froehlich and susan. welcome everybody. bob, the government finally doing nothing, is helping free markets do something? >> i certainly think it is. to think about it, we've had no new stimulus, we haven't had new tax on the rich. so, i think conceptually something is happening here and we finally figured out we need slowly stimulus not growing stimulus. we need to cut tax, not all of a sudden want to hike taxes and most importantly, we have to challenge the regulations, not coming up with new regulations, but i think the most important thing, brenda, we need less government employees, not more government employees, and we do that, we'll have more days like today. where stocks take off and employment takes off. >> well, susan, is it what the government is not doing or what it did? >> well, that's exactly right, brenda, you look at the stimulus that we've put in place in 2009. if you look at the payroll tax cut and everybody kept saying the policies aren't working and they've failed. in fact, they worked. we're seeing it now

>> shepard: mike tobin live tonight in chicago. what a day for wall street, the dow jones industrial average smashed through the 13,000 barrier for the first time in years. and you better believe your 401(k) is feeling better today. the dow crossed that mark shortly afternoon. it hasn't been to that level since may of 2008. when unemployment was below 5% and a half. and the dow only flirted with 13,000 before falling slightly to close at 12,966. the nasdaq down just a little bit and s&p up a fraction. part of investors' enthusiasm today was because of world finance ministers finally signing off on a bailout deal for greece. one worth more than $170 billion. it includes loans equivalent to about $29,000 for every single person in greece. and banks and private investors are being asked to forgive more than $140 billion in greek debt. as part of the deal, greeks have to accept some strict cut backs. for example, a 22% cut in the minimum wage for private sector employees. cutbacks like that caused riots in greece. a lot of folks unhapp

let's check back in now with mike tobin in golden valley, minnesota. good evening, mike. >> good evening, bret. ron paul and his wife just left for a day off. they looked in good spirits, ron paul telling me he considers number two to be a win z what he didn't make in the straw poll here he's hoping to make it up with delegates when they get dedicated to a candidate. ron paul put a lot of ground work in here in minnesota. this is the benefit reaped that number-two position. he got support from independents and young people. big winner here in minnesota was rick santorum. you mentioned with about 45% of the vote. the reason he did well according to caucus goers was the reason that a lot of the analysts predicted. type of people braving the cold get out in the middle of the week are conservative, evangelical. the kind of people want to push a he this is run by volunteers and not staffers. they were anticipating everything would be wrapped up and we're waiting for final results here in colorado. getting to this speech we heard from mitt romney. we heard h
